"Woah..." Rui muttered as he studied the world around him with an interested expression. "This is... this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen."A world that looked three-dimensional now resembled the image reflected atop the surface of a calm lake, except this time he could actually see the depths of reality beneath the surface. Depths that he couldn’t see before. His expression lit up with amazement as he continued studying the environment around him.
He noticed the extent of every object that seemed to stretch into entirely different depths that he had never sensed before. On top of that, he noticed faint folds in the very nature of reality, obscuring these depths from his senses.
"These must be the Calabi-Yau manifolds," Rui mused as he studied them in closer detail.
Immediately, he noticed some resemblance to the manifolds that he was already familiar with. Indeed, as the professor had told him, the macro space-time manifolds that he was familiar with were quite similar to the Calabi-Yau manifolds, but considerably less complex and inscrutable.
"These quantum manifolds act as a lattice of doors that prevent anybody from entering the higher dimensions," Rui realized, studying them more closely for some time. "They’re the reason that we only see three spatial dimensions in reality. I wonder why they closed off?"
It was almost as if someone had purposely hidden these layers of reality from lesser beings. He couldn’t understand why the universe would develop in a manner where straightforward transit between various dimensions comprising the universe would be closed off so tightly such that even a Transcendent Martial Artist couldn’t notice their existence beforehand.
The manifolds were as if a dozen or so additional spatial dimensions of reality were wound up in some strange higher dimensional geometry that even he struggled to parse, causing objects to only be available in three dimensions.
"The entire world is a lie." He shook his head. "If not for the arakai using prothanite against us, I might have never found out."
Thankfully, now that he was brought up to speed, he could begin his own investigations into the nature of the Calabi-Yau manifold. He immediately began experimenting with it, subjecting it to all kinds of stimuli. His first test was to see what happened when he subjected the Calabi-Yau manifold to negatronic anti-gravity.
He activated the negatron in his body, causing space and time to warp in a manner characteristic of the now-familiar substance.
"No meaningful reaction," he frowned, studying how the manifold interacted with anti-gravity. "The manifolds follow the geometry of three-dimensional space, but they themselves seem unaffected by anti-gravity. I guess if it was that simple, tapping into higher dimensions wouldn’t be that difficult."
He continued experimenting with the manifolds, entering the circumstances.
However, no ordinary solutions seemed to work. Not even singularities seemed to break down the Calabi-Yau manifolds that hid away the higher dimensions.
"It’s not a matter of raw or dumb power, obviously," he frowned. "We conduct a lot of extremely high-energy experiments in our civilization, but we have never even detected a whiff of the higher dimensions. It must be a specific methodology to enter higher dimensions."
He put aside the vain attempts at tinkering with the Calabi-Yau manifold more closely, this time with his Transcendent senses, which had since been more attuned to sense the manifold. He noticed that the moment he had shifted his senses, his vision of the information dimension had also shifted.
’It confirms that all this time, I’ve only been observing the part of the information dimension that corresponds with the layers of reality that I can perceive,’ he mused to himself. ’I can sense the Fear because my danger instincts are that well-honed to detect things that are of danger to me. That corresponds with the information dimension as well, allowing me to sense the most fundamental of dangers.’
He put the thought aside. Knowing that he could only comprehend a part of reality when he thought he was studying all of reality through the information dimension was unnerving, but he had already accepted it. He was more interested in what his senses told him about the Calabi-Yau manifold.
The first thing he noticed when studying the manifold was that it wasn’t ’empty,’ per se.
He could sense a more familiar phenomenon within it.
"This is..." He honed his senses, identifying the contents of the manifold. "Electromagnetic fluxes within the manifold. Higher-dimensional versions of it. Interesting. But they’re not just present; they’re... holding the manifold up, preventing it from collapsing."
The fluxes inside the manifold were higher-dimensional components of standard electromagnetic quantum fields that exerted a Gaussian pressure on the manifold, keeping it open. On the other hand, quantum flux in the three-dimensional universe seemed to exert flux pressure on the manifold, keeping it closed. The manifold’s shape and higher-dimensional volume were a complex product of the interaction between higher-dimensional and base-dimensional quantum flux.
"What if I remove the lower-dimensional flux that keeps the manifold from unfolding?" He raised an eyebrow.
Technically, that was impossible. Achieving zero flux in the real world was impossible because there was always some vacuum energy born from quantum fields. At the very least, human civilization didn’t have the technology yet.
Not even black holes would be able to isolate a Calabi-Yau manifold from all quantum flux, because black holes themselves radiated energy in the form of Hawking radiation, essentially caused by quantum tunneling.
"The arakai must have figured out some complex solution to isolate the Calabi-Yau manifold from all flux, causing it to unfold, but that is beyond human capacity at the moment." He shook his head. "Thankfully, I have a way to bypass needing to come up with a solution that relies on the laws of physics."
He activated his Martialverse, using his Water to wash away the quantum fields around a given region of Calabi-Yau manifolds, bringing about true nothingness around that given space.
What unfolded was unlike anything he had ever seen.
What Unfolded was the Calabi-Yau manifolds themselves.
RUMBLE
Rui’s ethereal eyes widened with shock as an entirely new geometry of the universe occupied the world around him.
