The dwarves stared at the finished product of God’s Hammer with stunned expressions, their jaws entirely slack. Each of them had had high expectations for the finished product. Not a single one of them wanted to miss the process from start to finish. It was why they stood there the entire day waiting for him to finish the creation process from start to finish.
The upgraded God’s Hammer was like a touch of divinity amidst an all-too-mortal world. Like it was an artifact that descended from the heavens themselves. The glowing prothanite made it shine with light with each moment for entirely natural reasons, making it illuminate the entire workstation.
It hummed with a transcendent harmony that seemed to reverberate through all of reality itself. An unfathomable sense of power unlike anything they had ever felt radiated from it, spreading across the room.
Dwight heaved an exhausted sigh. The man had continuously exerted himself across the entire day. He kept his Creationverse active, albeit suppressing it to the limit to prevent disappearing right away. He didn’t want to disappear while admiring his own creation.
This was the first project that Dwight had truly gone all out with. The powerful dwarf had worked on many a project in the fourteen months that had passed since he became a Transcendent, but none of them truly caused him to exert himself to the very best or bring out his very best.
However, God’s Hammer was that project. He had exerted his very best for this project and had gone all out from the very start to produce the greatest war machine that he possibly could.
And the result was even greater than he expected.
Even as he stood before God’s Hammer, he could faintly detect a sense of threat and power that transcended mortal limitations. In his estimation, God’s Hammer was stronger than any non-Transcendent Pathwalker he had ever met. He wasn’t sure if the machine had the power to fight Transcendents. But he could certainly fight. And for now, that was good enough. Dwight still considered himself to be an extremely inexperienced Transcendent, but unlike Martial Transcendents, he didn’t need an opponent to make progress.

God’s Hammer’s humming grew more intense with each passing moment, as if the machine was building up power. The Transcendent Craftsman closed his eyes as he overlapped his consciousness with the integrated information that he had imbued the machine with.
He felt a single emotion.
Fear.
His eyes flew wide open with surprise as he directed a piercing gaze at God’s Hammer. Why was the most powerful living machine fearful from the moment it was born? And not just ordinary fear. It was closer to a primordial terror with an intensity that beggared his imagination. It was more fear than the dwarf had felt in his entire life.
"Why..." The Transcendent dwarf asked the machine with confusion. "Why do you feel fear?"
The head of the machine turned towards Dwight. The quantum entanglement interface meant that it could control its body directly.
It activated its speakers, communicating a single message with an electronic voice.
"It is everywhere."
Dwight frowned at those words. He didn’t understand what the machine was saying. He also hadn’t programmed this trait into the integrated information consciousness, although artificial intelligence was capable of growing.
"Did I make a mistake?" He frowned.
Integrated information was a brand-new field that started out as pure qualitative theory pioneered by the Psyker, but had quickly become a field of information theory that Dwight had begun dabbling in, so it was possible that he had made some kind of mistake. Maybe he by mistake set the fear parameter too high?
"I’ll have to check up on you later, but for now..." he glanced at his body before his eyes closed. His entire body slowly faded away.
He had already transferred his consciousness, thankfully.
The other dwarves remained in place, as though they were cosplaying statues made of stone. It was difficult for them to take their eyes off the powerful mech. Its harmony was so infectious that they felt as if there was nothing wrong with simply standing there for the rest of their natural lives and admiring the mech until they died.
They were proud craftsmen who never bowed to each other. They themselves had created many great works of art and technology, but after witnessing the creation of God’s Hammer, they couldn’t help but grow profoundly dissatisfied with their work.
Elder Sage Steth gritted her teeth. "...I have too much work to do. I’m going to seclude myself in the workshop, and I’m not coming out until I become a Transcendent."
Her colleagues looked at her with a shocked expression. Dwarves did not make such promises lightly. They had long learned to take their own words dead serious, in order to make everybody take them seriously despite their diminutive physical stature.
Steth was dead serious about what she said.
"...Me too," Forsynth added, clenching his fists. "I don’t care about anything right now, except becoming a Transcendent."
"I as well."
"I’m not returning until I become a Transcendent either!"
The dwarves, one by one, made the same promise before they each scattered in their own directions, returning to their workshops. God’s Hammer, on the other hand, remained standing where it was, completely silent and stationary. Despite possessing the ability to move around as normal creatures did, it could not.
It struggled to process its emotions. The fear that it felt was omnipresent, and it was the only thing it had known in its very short and recent life.
News of God’s Hammer’s successful upgrade by the Transcendent craftsman spread across the Bournvyrne Empire, inspiring great celebration and cheer from the many dwarves who regarded it as their ultimate protector.
The mech had defended the dwarves from the strongest pathwalkers of the other races for centuries, serving as the only combatant that possessed the power to take them on by itself in a fight. Now that the Transcendent craftsman had upgraded the mech, each and every single one of them was confident that dwarvenkind was all but bound to prosper.
