Chapter 4619: Easier Targets

To say that Divine Mother oooo—— was angry was an understatement. She was aware of the dwarven Transcendent, but she didn’t care about a newborn baby Administrator in a civilization that didn’t even have a Legislative heritage, meaning it would have taken the dwarven Administrator more time than he had to truly become a threat. And yet, a living artifact of his creation managed to wound a Divine Mother.

And then there was the other Administrator. One who was entirely a Legislator. He had a glowing silvery body, one that was made entirely of solid light, save for his brain, which was entirely made of crystalline lattice.

They created an opening that allowed the Emperor of Water to escape what she was certain would have been his end. With the five of them ganging up on him, they would have undoubtedly succeeded in extracting the secret from his memories and killing him thereafter.

That smooth, ideal victory had been disrupted.

"Wait," the Divine Mother made a realization. "Those. Are. Products. Of. Legislation! That. Means. That. Even. The. Two. Other. Transcendents. Of. Human. Civilization. Have. Learned. The. Method. For. Administrative. Impunity!"

Rui’s expression tightened as he heard that. This was why he was completely fine with Dwight remaining out of the public eye and Argenton not even revealing that he broke through. However, the fact that they had just made this conclusion was proof that their intelligence gathering was not as good as ooo—o-’s, because she had figured out that he taught Dwight the method a long time ago.

The moment the Divine Mothers made the realization that the other Transcendents also knew the method, their expressions lit up. Cornering the Emperor of Water was extremely challenging. He was too slippery, and his ability to change to overcome hurdles was too great.

It was like trying to stop flowing water with one’s hands, knowing that the water would always overflow around any hurdles. He was perversely strong despite his youth as a Transcendent.

However, they could tell with a single glance that Argenton was nowhere near as strong. The fact that he had a perfect clean shot on the back of a Divine Mother and failed to kill her point-blank showed the limits of his power.

He was the perfect target.

"Get. Him! Find. The. Dwarf!" Divine Mother oooo—— clicked with aggression. "If. We. Can. Get. Our. Hands. On. The. Weaklings. Then. Extracting. The. Knowledge. Of. Administrative. Impunity. Will. Be. Easy!"

RUMBLE!!!!!

The Divine Mothers turned towards Argenton with a ferocious expression, sending shivers down his nonexistent skin. They pounced at him like a pack of wolves hunting prey, causing the Transcendent to almost regret having intervened in the battle at all.

But before Divine Mother oooo—— could reach him, Rui intervened, putting himself between himself and her.

"Sorry, but I can’t allow that to happen," Rui growled.

Oooo——’s eyes flared with rage. "You!!"

Her furry, golden hands sharpened into a flat palm, charging at Rui with tremendous force and speed.

Unfortunately for her, he was quicker. Or rather, his trajectory was shorter thanks to higher-dimensional shortcuts.

Even though his attack was launched after hers, it reached its target sooner.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

His fist struck with the force of exploding planets. Profoundly microscopic quantum vibrations allowed him to permeate the impact deeper than it would have gone otherwise. But the armor that the Divine Mother had created was tougher than he had expected.

She withstood the attack resolutely, not even so much as flinching.

She truly was unyieldingly tough. His ordinary attacks were meaningless in front of her absurd toughness. He could tell that she wasn’t even using her Webverse to defend herself.

This was just the innate durability of her law-altered body.

Ignoring the impact that he inflicted on her, she continued with her attack. The tactic of increasing the odds of a lethal blow by simply withstanding her opponent’s attack was one that had led her to an immediate victory many times.

And yet, it didn’t this time.

WHOOSH

Her eyes widened as what should have been a lethal attack to the chest simply struck empty vacuum. Just before her attack struck, his body had suddenly become transparent, and his body became intangible. As if it lacked substance.

Rui smoothly retaliated with a powerful kick to the chest, his body becoming tangible at the very final moment.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

Despite the sheer force with which he struck her, she didn’t so much as budge. Her hand shot to his leg with blinding speed, aiming to catch his ankle.

WHOOSH

His body became intangible once more, allowing him to smoothly escape her attempt. His hands blurred, becoming blinding flashes that even the leader of the War Faction struggled to react to and catch.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!

A flurry of blows ravaged her body. Yet, she didn’t so much as budge, allowing the attacks to strike her as he pleased. Instead of mindlessly attacking him again, she observed him while defending against his speedy but weak attacks.

The intangibility he demonstrated against the Divine Mother he ambushed was different from what he was demonstrating now. This intangibility leveraged principles that she was familiar with, but not personally proficient at.

"Hyperdimensional. Reality... to. Think. You. Have. Already. Become. This. Proficient. At. It... As. Expected... Your. Species. Is. Dangerous."

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

A massive attack briefly opened the distance between the two of them. Rui’s expression was serious. He had just bombarded her with many attacks, and he couldn’t even put the slightest scratch on her.

"You are tough," he complained. "I can tell that the laws of your body are heavily altered. I can even tell that you have meticulously increased the tensile strength of the webs of adhesion within your body by altering the laws that govern them."

Moreover, he could tell it was clearly a long, arduous process of accumulating Legislative work to create a body that was so tough that he would have thought Dwight had crafted it. No, it was stronger than anything Dwight could have ever crafted. Not even God’s Hammer was nearly as tough as this old arakai’s body.
