Chapter 4661: A Domineering Foundation of Power

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The stances that the two Martial Transcendents took reflected their seriousness. The atmosphere bore not just the weight of their power, but also an overwhelming sense of dread. Ria couldn’t help but wonder if it was even safe for her to stand nearby when two Martial Transcendents were about to go at it.

The last time she saw two Transcendents fight, they had destroyed an entire star system. Even though the young Martial Sage was confident about her ability to survive, she was nowhere near arrogant enough to believe she could withstand the power of two Transcendents clashing against each other.

However, neither of her parents instructed her to leave, nor were they particularly eager to change locations in fear of collateral damage. That calmed her fraying nerves a little. That was right, she thought, there’s no way Mom and Dad would fight recklessly and destroy Gaia just to have a serious battle.

Her faith wasn’t off the mark. Even as the two Transcendents exchanged deep eyes, they had already had a minor accord to fight restrictively as far as collateral damage went. They would not allow so much as a speck of their power to go out of control. It would take more effort, but since the effort would need to be equally distributed, it would still even out the playing field, more or less.

The result of their prudent care was an incredibly intense build-up of power that was kept so well under control that not even a drop of it spilled into the environment around them. The land didn’t quiver, and the air didn’t dance. The only sign of the approaching commencement of the battle was her own rising nervous tension.

And then, it began abruptly.

WHOOSH

With a single step, Amare arrived before Rui in the blink of an eye; her palm thrusting towards his abdomen.

She had chosen to make the first move.

The attack she threw at him was deceptively silent and smooth. It didn’t quake the world in its approach, instead becoming a blinding blur that shot towards his chest. Rui, however, wasn’t the least bit fazed.

THWACK

A firm wrist-to-wrist interception from Rui smoothly batted the attack of the way. Amare relied on the base of her palms to attack, which meant that her reach was a little shorter than if she used her fists. That one difference allowed Rui to make use of the additional time her attack needed to intercept them with minimal attacks.

Amare’s amber eyes sharpened as her palm blurred, flashing forth in an onslaught of attacks, each aimed at Rui’s vital points. Her flexible joints allowed her attacks to coil and curl through, making them harder and harder to intercept.

More than anything, however, her attacks tunneled through reality itself with relativistic efficiency, warping space and time to reach their targets sooner. On top of that, her Corporeal Realm relied on her corporeal consciousness to astronomically enhance her muscle memory and kinesthetic learning capacity.

Each time Rui intercepted her attacks with his wrist, her body memorized it, analyzed it, and learned to grow. The large sum of attacks that she threw at Rui fed her corporeal consciousness an enormous ocean of data that she could learn from.

Her attacks grew more efficient. They grew harder to intercept. They grew more likely to break past the defenses that Rui mounted. Her corporeal consciousness even formed models of her opponent based on the information that it received, allowing her body to innately evolve.

However, even with all of her non-Transcendent power, she wasn’t able to break through Rui’s defenses.

Not even close.

Rui’s right arm became a partitioning redirecting, intercepting each of her attacks at the wrist, and smoothly redirecting them away from him. Not only was his neurobiology made up of light, but he even had Autocorpus, whose reflex speed was so fast that even he couldn’t measure it. These two alone made it nigh impossible for anything to possibly catch up with him, but then he had his systems of thought, the many models he had created on Amare over the many years.

But the biggest nail in the coffin when it came to the non-Transcendent aspect of the battle was hyperdimensional motion. Even though her raw movement speed was much greater than his, he simply moved through higher dimensions, crossing less distance to make it to his destination.

"A Higher Path."

That was the name that he had given to the broader technique of hyperdimensional shortcuts and motion. It was a fitting name, since it truly was a higher path to move through.

Even with her relativistic efficiency, she could never possibly outpace hyperdimensional motion.

Nor could she react to it in time.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The retaliatory blow to her gut came faster than she could react. A flash of pain shot through her body only after his fist had dug well into her gut, warping her entire body with the force of the blow. The blow, with prothanite-laced knuckles, ravaged her body, flinging her away.

Even as she skidded away across the battle arena, her corporeal consciousness immediately accelerating her healing, she couldn’t help but grow truly amazed at how much stronger Rui had grown as far as non-Transcendent power was concerned. She had gotten a good understanding of Rui’s power from future Amare’s memories as well as her own memories in the battle with the six Divine Mothers, but with their Martialverses yet to partake in the battle, she got to experience his foundational power isolated by itself, and it was truly on another level.

Particularly the power of higher dimensions. That was a source of power that was just completely overpowered. A cheat-like set of principles that made defeating anybody who mastered them almost impossible.

WHOOSH

Rui arrived before her in the blink of an eye, abusing her with an onslaught of hyperdimensionally accelerated attacks. She was reduced to a balled-up turtle, desperately trying to defend against the nonsensical maneuvering that hyperdimensional reality granted him, doing her best to hold out for as long as she could.
