“Ha…”Chamber bit her trembling lip as she stared at Raon, now with black hair and black eyes.
‘Is Raon really gaining the Stones of Origin Demon?’
The beings dwelling within the Stones of Origin were like newborn chicks hatching from their eggs.
They would follow the one who broke their shell until death. Yet the demon of December, Zircon, chose Raon—not the Black Tower Lord—and gave him his strength.
‘And an absurd amount of power at that.’
The energy Raon now possessed was only slightly weaker than the Black Tower Lord, who had absorbed the July angel Peridot.
That meant Raon had fully absorbed Zircon’s demonic energy. Even if it was temporary, it was still shocking.
‘King of Variables…’
She had coined the nickname herself, and there was no more fitting title for Raon.
He always turned crises into opportunities. Watching him ignite hope once more in the midst of darkness, she felt she had nailed the perfect name.
‘With this…’
Chamber nodded as she watched Raon suppress the surging power inside him.
‘We can fight.’
If the Black Tower Lord had been a martial artist, even if Raon had twice the power he had now, they wouldn’t stand a chance.
But the Black Tower Lord used magic and sorcery. As long as she supported Raon, they wouldn’t lose.
‘Of course…’
She gripped her throbbing head and bit her lip.
‘I have to hold out somehow…’
Repeated use of her final spells had caused serious damage to her upper energy center.
Though her mana had recovered a bit, the physical and mental pain was severe. She wasn’t sure how long she could last.
‘No, don’t be weak.’
She clenched her trembling fist and shook her head.
‘Even if I die here, I must fight.’
Those who walk ahead must open the path for those behind. She, too, had come this far by stepping over the blood-stained roads of her predecessors. She had to fight for Raon and the others, even in death.
“Yeah.”
Chamber lifted the corner of her trembling mouth and nodded to Raon.
“Let’s fight together. I’ll help you bring that monster down.”
She accepted the crushing pain in her bones and muscles and smiled lightly.
—
“Lady Chamber…”
Raon swallowed dryly as he looked at Chamber’s smile.
‘She’s in critical condition.’
Now that he had accepted Zircon’s power, he could clearly see her state.
Her upper energy center was so severely damaged it wouldn’t be surprising if it shattered at any moment. The fact that she was still standing was a miracle.
‘And yet she still says she’ll fight…’
Raon had experienced the same kind of damage before, so he understood.
She was enduring pain so intense that death would be preferable. Knowing she was willing to fight through it pained his heart with both sorrow and gratitude.
-I underestimated that old woman.
Wrath narrowed his eyes as he looked at Chamber.
-She is a true warrior.
He acknowledged Chamber’s spirit and gave a heavy nod.
-I know how you feel, but don’t belittle her resolve.
‘I understand.’
Raon nodded, biting his lip.
“…Let’s do this.”
Because he knew how she felt, he couldn’t tell her to rest. And truthfully, he couldn’t beat the Black Tower Lord without her.
“Try to recover, even a little.”
He used the divine power born of darkness to heal Chamber’s physical wounds. He had already used most of it on Rensia, but even a little might help.
‘Unfortunately, I can’t erase her mental wounds or fatigue…’
[…I can do that.]
Zircon’s voice came quietly, sounding subdued.
‘What?’
[The power of Zircon, the gemstone, is stability. I can’t heal all her wounds, but I can ease her mental pain and exhaustion.]
He nodded, saying he could at least relieve some of her burden.
‘Ah, so that’s it.’
He himself had felt more refreshed than ever, despite his body being more exhausted than usual. It was likely thanks to Zircon’s stabilizing effect.
-Then why the hell didn’t you say so sooner!
Wrath smacked Zircon in the back of the head.
[I-I was told to keep my mouth shut…]
Zircon clutched the back of his head and glanced around.
-You talking back to me now? Hah! Look at the world now! A demon mouthing off to me?
[That’s not what I meant…]
-Want me to line up who’s beneath who? Should I remind you?
Wrath glared at him with piercing blue eyes.
[S-sorry…]
Zircon sniffled and bowed. It was almost ridiculous to see such a powerful transcendent act so meek.
‘Enough. Help Lady Chamber recover.’
[Just need to pass her my energy… gently.]
He warned that giving too much at once could overwhelm her.
“Lady Chamber. Your hand, please.”
“A confession now of all times? That’s a bit much.”
Chamber gave a weak smile and reached out.
“Still enough energy for jokes, I see.”
Raon took her hand and passed her some of Zircon’s energy.
“Trust me and accept it.”
“Mm…”
Though she was startled by the demonic energy, she trusted him and opened her mana circuits.
The moment she accepted Zircon’s power, her eyes shot open, and the pain and fatigue seemed to lessen.
“What… is this?”
“It won’t heal the injury to your energy center. It’s just dulling the pain and fatigue. So don’t overdo it.”
Raon explained, then nodded.
“…Thank you.”
Chamber smiled at him gently, like a proud grandmother looking at her grandson.
“Then let’s begin.”
Raon stood in front of her, raising the Heavenly Drive and Acron.
“I’ll fight up front. Please support me from the back.”
“You’re ordering me around?”
Chamber snapped, then shook her head.
“But I guess there’s no helping it today. Go ahead. I’ll cover you.”
She formed a spell with her fingers, telling him to focus solely on attacking.
“…I still can’t believe it.”
The Black Tower Lord stared blankly for a moment, then ground his teeth hard.
“My greatest plan ruined like this…”
His black eyes flared with rage, despair, envy, and greed.
“I’ll kill you and devour your corpse down to the bones. I’ll take Zircon back.”
He didn’t even glance at Chamber. His focus was entirely on Raon as he clasped his hands.
“Try it.”
Raon ignited golden flames on the Heavenly Drive and silver frost on Acron. Drawing out the aura gained from Zircon to its peak, he tilted his chin.
“Because your head will fall first.”
“You insolent brat!”
As the Black Tower Lord released the demonic energy he gained from Peridot, a powerful wave surged through the sky. The sealed gate to the Devildom began to open once more.
“I’ll shatter all the hope you’ve built!”
He seemed intent not only on killing them but reopening the gate entirely.
“You talk too much. And it’s all nonsense.”
Raon exploded his aura from his toes and dashed toward the Black Tower Lord’s left side.
Before even his afterimage could catch up, he slashed with the blazing Heavenly Drive.
“Demon Lord’s Robe!”
Though a mage, the Black Tower Lord tracked Raon’s speed with his eyes and deployed a black veil.
Ssshhh!
The sharp strike of the Heavenly Drive tore through the black veil, yet it didn’t feel like it hit anything. It was like slicing water.
Fwoooosh!
The black veil, far from just blocking, transformed into ropes that tried to bind his arms and legs.
Slash!
Raon cut the ropes with the frost of Acron and backed away.
But the ropes seemed to have been bait. From the severed ends, chains burst out, coiling around his entire body.
Slash!
He summoned [Ten Thousand Flames Cultivation] to burn the chains, but space tore open, and the chains vanished. Chamber’s support.
“That’s a Demon Lord’s Robe! It’s the original artifact worn by the Black King Sigel you killed!”
Chamber explained as she dissolved the black chains.
“Normal attacks won’t break through it. But when it strikes, it becomes sharper than any blade, so be careful!”
She warned that the Demon Lord’s Robe was both a shield and a weapon.
“How do I pierce it?”
Raon circled the Black Tower Lord, asking how to break through.
“Either sever the space it’s protecting, use higher-grade magic or martial arts, or brute-force it.”
Chamber listed the three methods, holding up her fingers.
“You can’t do any of them!”
The Black Tower Lord laughed and stretched out his pale hand. His palm expanded, growing until it blanketed the sky and wrapped around him.
‘An illusion?’
No, it’s real.
His movement itself was magic and sorcery. That massive hand wasn’t an illusion—it was reality.
“I’ll cut it! Go in!”
“Yes!”
Without hesitation, Raon ran into the hand as soon as he heard Chamber.
Ssshhh!
Just as the enormous hand aimed to crush him, space split open and revealed the Black Tower Lord’s face.
Chamber had erased his magic, creating an opening.
Paaang!
Raon stepped through the dark and launched an attack.
[White Flurry] and [Crimson Flame Flash]—his two fastest sword techniques—struck at the Black Tower Lord’s neck and heart.
Fwoooosh!
Just before the red and blue flashes hit, a black veil rose to block. The Demon Lord’s Robe.
‘I’ll pierce it.’
He had anticipated this. He embedded the spatial sword technique he’d learned from Aris into [White Flurry] and [Crimson Flame Flash].
Paaang!
Instead of cutting the veil’s surface, the strikes pierced the space within, causing a massive shockwave.
‘Hmm…’
Raon frowned as his hands trembled around the Heavenly Drive and Acron.
‘Still no impact.’
It wasn’t water this time—but it felt like slicing through mud. He’d pierced the inner space of the veil but hadn’t wounded the Black Tower Lord.
“Your swordsmanship cannot pierce the Demon Lord’s Robe.”
The Black Tower Lord shouted that it was impossible, then unleashed a wave of black demonic energy that enveloped him like sunlight.
‘I can’t block this.’
He countered the spreading light with a flame wave from the Heavenly Drive.
Kuwaaaaaaah!
As the demonic energy collided with the sea of flame, crimson sparks filled the sky.
“Hoo.”
Raon exhaled as he watched the fading sparks.
‘The power itself isn’t too different… but…’
He couldn’t break through the Demon Lord’s Robe.
If Chamber used a final spell, she could erase it—but the Black Tower Lord wouldn’t just stand still and take it. He had to break it himself.
‘Keep attacking…’
Just as he moved again, black thorns shot out from the floating robe, aiming at his eyes and neck.
Clang!
He deflected them with Acron. Though it had the texture of cloth, it felt like hitting steel laced with aura.
Vmmmmmm!
As soon as he blocked the attack, it began raining black droplets as if ink had spilled across the sky.
“Don’t let it hit you! It’ll melt flesh and bone!”
Chamber opened a dimensional barrier to shield him from the rain.
“Thank you.”
Raon nodded, then moved behind the Black Tower Lord and stabbed with both swords.
Raon Zieghart Swordsmanship — Form Seven: [Twin Void Slash].
The white-streaming Heavenly Drive and Acron broke through the wall of demonic energy and split the Demon Lord’s Robe at its center.
Slash!
His most irregular technique might be [White Shadow Slash], but when it came to cutting through space, [Void Slash] was the strongest. The twin slashes pierced into the Demon Lord’s Robe.
“Hmm…”
Raon frowned as he looked at the swaying, half-split robe.
‘It felt like cutting a solid, but not flesh…’
Unlike before, it felt like slicing something solid—but still not human flesh. He hadn’t hurt the Black Tower Lord.
‘Keep going.’
He infused [Void Slash] into the Heavenly Drive and [White Shadow Slash] into the Acron, relentlessly hammering at the robe.
With Chamber covering defense, he focused on offense, tearing the robe apart—but still failed to reach the Black Tower Lord.
“You lowly brat!”
The Black Tower Lord snapped his fingers, and black flames surged from every direction. A prison of demonic fire. The heat was enough to melt flesh.
‘Cut through it!’
Raon bit his lip and slashed sideways with [Heavenly Connection].
Slash!
His grand strike split the flame wall, and he dashed out using [Supreme Harmony Steps].
“Damn it…”
He bit his lip as he looked at the rapidly regenerating robe. His attacks were ineffective, and the enemy’s every move was deadly.
Tsk.
Raon clicked his tongue as he looked at his trembling hand.
‘With my current level, I can’t pierce the Demon Lord’s Robe.’
It was a transcendent artifact strengthened by the Black Tower Lord’s magic. His current swordsmanship couldn’t break it.
‘That means there’s only one option left.’
He’d been saving it, unsure how it would affect him—but now he had no choice.
“Raon.”
Chamber stepped forward, face pale.
“Let’s switch roles. I’ll attack.”
She didn’t even wipe the blood from her lips as she nodded.
“No.”
Raon stepped forward and shook his head.
“There’s one thing I haven’t tried yet.”
He had to admit it. His current level couldn’t break through the Black Tower Lord’s magic.
No—it was never possible to begin with. The gap between them was simply too vast.
But if not through swordsmanship, there was still another way.
Rooooaaaaar!
Raon held the Heavenly Drive and Acron in both hands and summoned the [Soul Requiem Sword] using [Sword Control].
“You’re a coward.”
The Black Tower Lord twisted his lips.
“Your fear of sacrifice will lead to the death of everyone here.”
Confident of his victory, he raised his hand high.
Ruuuumble!
Breaking through the dark sky, a giant meteor engulfed in flames began falling.
It wasn’t just a threat to Raon and Chamber. It was a cataclysm that could wipe out everyone below.
“You can block it, right?”
Raon ignored the Black Tower Lord and looked at Chamber.
“Yeah.”
Though drenched in cold sweat, she nodded.
“Then I’ll pierce it.”
As red lightning burned in Raon’s black eyes, the bracelets of the Demon Kings on his wrist lit up in different colors.
“Raon Zieghart!”
Angered at being ignored, the Black Tower Lord shouted and extended his hand. Countless bizarre monsters poured forth, trying to consume him. Each one had the force of a transcendent spell. Even breathing was hard.
Huff—
Raon held his breath and slashed at them with both swords.
Slash!
The scorched black flame of the Heavenly Drive incinerated the monsters, and the green frost of the Acron froze the remnants white.
Unlike before, his force was overwhelming.
“What the…”
The Black Tower Lord widened his eyes in disbelief at the defeat of his summoned monsters.
“You bastard!”
Unwilling to accept their death, he unleashed a wave of pure demonic energy.
Kuwaaaaaah!
Raon swung Acron, and the black waves froze solid. He smashed through them with his shoulder and charged at the Black Tower Lord.
Vmmmmmm!
As expected, the Demon Lord’s Robe appeared to block him.
Ssssssssh!
He imbued the Heavenly Drive with [Heavenly Sky Cannon], and Acron with [Flame Dragon Break].
Kuwaaaaaaaaah!
The black-tinged firestorm and pale green [Flame Dragon Break] exploded, tearing open the robe’s center. It wasn’t swordsmanship—but brute strength that broke through.
“W-What…?”
The Black Tower Lord’s horrified face was visible through the gap in the robe.
Eyes wide with disbelief, he stared at Raon.
Paaang!
Raon stepped through the torn robe and slashed the Black Tower Lord with the Heavenly Drive and [Soul Requiem Sword].
“What are you doing?!”
The Black Tower Lord blocked the twin strikes with a pentagram-shaped shield of demonic energy.
But Raon still had one weapon left.
Fwaaang!
The glowing white [Soul Requiem Sword] pierced through the demonic shield and embedded itself in the Black Tower Lord’s chest.
“Guh!”
He clutched his chest, hunched over.
“H-How… How could you break the Demon Lord’s Robe…?”
His jaw quivered, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
“This isn’t a one-on-one fight.”
Raon glanced at the glowing Demon Kings’ bracelets on his wrist and twisted his lips.
“With numbers on our side, I’ll crush you.”
