Chapter 999: Freedom

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Threshold I, seeing the futility of her own attack, immediately cut off the attack as she didn’t have infinite Astra energy after all. The moment the attack was cut off, Azaron immediately tapped into his Nebula Affinity once more.

Plasma came to life as various vortices seemed to open up around him, numbering in the thousands. Without missing a beat, he fired them at Threshold I, who was standing a couple of kilometers away, the attacks closing the distance with sizzling speed as they moved to burn everything out of existence.

Seeing the incoming attacks, Threshold I simply smiled and snapped her fingers. The moment the finger snap echoed, Azaron’s attacks instantly veered off course as though something had forcefully acted upon them, the attacks slamming into the distance behind her and exploding with enough force to turn the surrounding terrain into an inferno.

Azaron remained expressionless as his mind surged through the possibilities of what Threshold I’s ability could be. It wasn’t elemental manipulation, although she had been using those thus far. The way she had been able to deflect the plasma attacks suggested otherwise, as the attacks had not merely been blocked or destroyed; they had been forcibly redirected as though reality itself had decided they should no longer reach her.

But he didn’t spend his time thinking too much. Only fighting could provide more data. Astra energy roared across Azaron’s body as he immediately used Light to boost his own speed, used Gravity to further enhance his acceleration, then, with a single step, he vanished from where he stood as he closed the distance between them. The moment he did, he attacked without a shred of hesitation, his spear covered in Light as it came down upon Threshold I like a celestial spear descending from the heavens.

Threshold I immediately moved, her Astra energy surging even more intensely as she teleported out of place, but the moment she teleported, Azaron appeared beside her as he read the spatial fluctuations, immediately teleporting to her position. The moment both of them appeared in the same place at the same time, Azaron’s spear screamed outwards for her head while he used spatial restrictions to lock her in place.

But the moment Threshold I moved regardless, she didn’t use any Space or Gravity ability; she simply ignored it as though Azaron hadn’t locked her in place.

Then she dodged by calmly sidestepping midair. The moment she did, she compressed space into a literal Black Hole between the both of them.

Azaron felt the suction force immediately, his body tearing towards it as the Black Hole moved to swallow him while Threshold I stood safely behind it, completely unaffected.

Azaron tried to teleport, but it was useless, as the Black Hole was affecting space itself. Seeing this, Azaron smirked. Why should he run? He decided to flip the entire attack on its head. His Astra energy surged as, the next moment, his Nebula Affinity came alive once more as a Black Hole of his own making came to life.

Black Hole versus Black Hole.

Threshold I found herself being affected as she and her Black Hole were being pulled into Azaron’s. She hadn’t expected Azaron to be so mad as to create a Black Hole of his own. But since he had decided to be mad, she decided to be even madder. With that, she slammed her own Black Hole into Azaron’s with a crazy smile on her face, as though she didn’t care whether she lived or died.

Normally, when two Black Holes meet, they merge into a larger Black Hole, but these were two opposing forces. So, the moment they met, an incomprehensible, reality-distorting amount of gravitational output erupted outwards as though an entire star had exploded. Light cascaded as explosions rang outwards in all maddening crescendos, erasing everything in their surroundings.

The mad part? These two didn’t dodge. They stood like mountains as they both challenged each other to tank the attack head-on without defending. Their bodies tanked the explosion head-on, their limbs blowing off, half of their faces tearing apart, bones breaking, but they didn’t move. Their eyes remained fixed on each other as they waited for the first to take a step back, both seemingly relishing in the pain and suffering.

The next moment, Threshold I slid backward by half a foot, but the moment she did, it became her loss. And in that instant, Azaron vanished from where he stood as he transported himself through Light Movement, copying Malrik’s own movement skill, as he couldn’t teleport due to the unstable spatial fluctuations caused by the collision of the two Black Holes.

The moment his body appeared high in the sky, Light washed over him, regeneration kicking in as his entire arm regenerated from the stump on his shoulder, half of his face that had been lost becoming whole again as his stomach sealed shut and his organs stabilized.

Unlike him, Threshold I didn’t need Light to regenerate; she simply regenerated. She didn’t float in the air through Space or Gravity manipulation, but simply floated there as though the concept of falling had never applied to her.

Threshold I’s ability was called Freedom.

It gave her the ability to freely control the existing Laws of Reality to whatever degree her Astra energy allowed her to. Through this ability, she had ignored Azaron’s spatial restrictions earlier. After all, how could you lock down someone who was free? Through this ability, she could ignore seals, walk through walls, defy Gravity, and fly, all without needing Astra energy, as these were simply the passive effects of her ability.

Through Freedom, she could manipulate anything, ranging from all elements in existence to abstract Laws. It was through this ability that she had unleashed a Sun Beam, created a Black Hole, and it was also through this ability that she had manipulated the probability of Azaron’s Plasma Beam attacks landing on her to zero, causing them to veer off course.

Through this ability, she had partially lifted the restrictions on her human body, hence permanently upgrading her own Physique, which was why she had said she was a bit special, and also the reason she had been able to match the physically absurd Azaron.

And through this ability, she simply manipulated her own cells and body and healed herself, forcing her damaged flesh, broken bones, and destroyed organs to return to their proper state as though the injuries had never existed.

Of course, limitations existed. For example, she couldn’t manipulate something someone else was manipulating. For example, she couldn’t simply manipulate Azaron’s Plasma Beam or Asher’s Lightning attack. But alas, that was just a minor limitation, not even a true one in most circumstances.

The moment Threshold I was done healing, she tapped into the power of the sky as, the next moment, the clouds over Azaron’s head shook. The next moment, a gigantic, thick Lightning bolt, powerful enough to tear apart an entire Empire, descended downwards with terrifying speed, the heavens themselves seemingly splitting apart under its power.

Azaron didn’t delay. He simply tapped into Space as, the next moment, a portal opened up as he sent the attack back at Threshold I.

Although Freedom allowed her to manipulate the Laws of Reality, it didn’t mean it granted her an affinity for them, meaning that even if she could manipulate Space, she didn’t possess an affinity for it and couldn’t exactly sense when someone was manipulating Space.

The Lightning attack slammed into her back, shooting her forward through the sky as her body tore towards Azaron with breakneck speed. Azaron immediately closed the distance with his spear. but the moment they arrived before each other, Threshold I used her ability once more as she immediately erased every light photon from their battlefield, forcefully changing day into the concept of no light, a state that was even blacker and darker than night.

Light returned instantly, as she had only erased the Concept of Light for a split second before returning it due to the enormous amount of Astra energy it cost to pull off such a feat.

The moment day returned, Azaron’s neck split as blood splattered into the air, flesh parting as Threshold I had gone for his neck with wicked ease. Although she had caught Azaron off guard, as how was the man supposed to see in the Concept of No Light, the man had still reacted as his sense for danger allowed him to avoid death at the nick of time.

Light flashed across his neck as his critical injury immediately snapped shut. He shot downwards and landed on the ground with ease, Ender in his hand vanishing as he transitioned into his own attack, his Astra energy already surging through his body once more as the battle continued to escalate beyond anything either of them had experienced before.
