Lior turned to Finch as he spoke, "I have to say, kid, your Good Luck ability did not disappoint," his words sincere.

Finch smirked as he spoke proudly, "Of course it won’t, its clutch timing is the best out there."

There wasn’t much he was proud of as a person, but his Good Luck ability was definitely one of them, and he would remain proud of it till the very end, even if it failed him at the most important moment of his life.

Lior shook his head as he proceeded to get down to the details, "We have to consider properly before we decide who to use it on..." he spoke, the smile on his face not leaving.

"What is there to even consider?" Finch asked. "Do you even know how busted Asher’s talent is? He is practically the most talented person in the world. He is the perfect person to use the Aptitude Link on," he stated, as there was no better person in his eyes.

Lior stayed silent for a moment, then nodded. He agreed with Finch. There was a reason he always referred to Asher as "that abnormal guy," and it was specifically because of his outrageous talent for literally everything.

Agreeing, he looked at Finch and asked, "Do you want to do the honors?"

Finch smiled as he replied, "Gladly."

He took in a deep breath as he calmed his beating heart and emotions. His Destiny and Fate were about to change, and with that, he spoke.

"Aptitude Link, Asher Wargrave," his tone calm, as the ability required him to say the name of the ability, followed by the name of the soul he wanted to link to.

Although he didn’t need to speak out loud, as a thought was enough, but due to how special the moment was, he decided to speak out loud.

According to the ability, if the ability worked, they would feel the connection between them and their target, and also, even if their Link died, the link wouldn’t disconnect but would remain.

Lior and Finch waited for a few seconds, then minutes, but felt no change at all. They couldn’t help but look at each other in confusion, wondering why the Aptitude Link ability had failed.

"Let me try," Lior spoke. "Maybe because I’m the original owner of the ability, I have to be the one to establish the soul connection," he stated.

Finch nodded, having no complaints, as Lior’s words made perfect sense. And with that, Lior closed his eyes as he too spoke out loud.

"Aptitude Link, Asher Wargrave, Tenth Sun of the Ducal Wargrave Household," he stated, giving more details just in case two Asher Wargraves existed out there, and maybe that was the reason the ability was failing.

But still, the ability failed. They felt nothing, not even some minute change. Lior and Finch became even more confused.

"Is this ability fake or something?" Finch couldn’t help but complain, as his hopes had been dashed when the ability failed twice.

Lior stayed silent for a moment as though considering something. "Finch, it seems that abnormal friend of yours possesses some kind of soul protection ability. It’s the only explanation," he stated as he came to a sensible conclusion.

Finch couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow as he considered the possibility. He couldn’t help but agree that it was the only explanation.

"For real, how many hidden abilities does Asher even possess?" Finch stated in a weak tone as he collapsed upon his bed. At this point, even if the Aptitude Link worked with anyone else, it would still be a huge loss.

And indeed, Lior’s words were correct. Due to Asher’s system function, their Aptitude Link ability had failed. And although they didn’t know it, at this moment, Asher was sitting in his living room, seriously confused as he wondered who was trying to mess with his soul not once, but twice.

But unknown to Finch and Lior, if they asked Asher about this, Asher might be willing to turn off his system function for them to use the Aptitude Link ability.

"Let’s try another person," Lior spoke as he shook his head. "If your abnormal friend is a no-go, then we will try his brother, Malrik," he stated, not particularly caring that the ability had failed against Asher. After all, Asher had always been abnormal to him.

Finch rose as he shifted back into a seated position, nodding in agreement. "I would have said we should try the Primarch, but Malrik broke the man’s record, proving just how talented he is," he stated.

Without wasting any more time, Lior activated the ability once more, confident it would work this time.

"Aptitude Link, Malrik Wargrave," he stated with calm assurance.

The moment the ability activated, Lior’s body immediately tensed up as, the next moment, his body started to heat up, and he immediately vomited a mouthful of blood onto the bed.

Finch immediately panicked as he shot to his feet in fear.

"What’s wrong? What happened?" he asked as he watched Lior’s body turn golden-orange for a moment. Lior continued coughing out blood until he suddenly stopped.

"Fuck!!!" Lior cursed as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. His injuries from Asher had almost healed, and now he had received a backlash for messing with Malrik’s soul, injuring him even more and worsening his old injuries.

He turned to Finch as he spoke in literal pain, "It seems Malrik also possesses some sort of soul protection ability, and his can send out an attack or backlash or whatever the fuck that was," he stated in an agitated tone.

Finch sighed as he spoke, "We will go to the Healing Department and get you healed. I have enough points for whatever price they call," he sighed.

Lior didn’t reject the offer this time, as he had rejected meeting any healer after his battle with Asher. He simply nodded in agreement.

"No more messing around with those Wargrave family members. We might die if we attempt anything on their father," Lior stated as he was done messing around with those freakish people.

Finch simply nodded in agreement as he already had the same thought.

Unknown to the both of them, the backlash simply came from Malrik’s Blessing of the Sun, and if they tried their Aptitude Link against Wuthenya, they would receive the same backlash.

"Should we try Arianna Haellight?" Lior asked, as she seemed like the next best person.

Finch shook his head as he spoke, "It’s rumored that she is blessed by the World. I don’t want to suddenly die from an attack from the World itself," he was being more cautious now; better to be safe than dead.

"Acker Holloway?" Lior suggested.

Finch shook his head as he explained, "That guy summoned a god or whatever that was during his battle against Asher. I’d rather not be attacked by some unknown being that bald guy prays to."

Lior sighed as he fell into his thoughts, "At this rate, we either go with Ryaen Silvershade or Isaac Wrath Chillstorm," he stated.

"What of Teo Swig? That guy seems pretty talented too," Finch suggested as he and Lior reduced their greed in order to avoid death from some unknown entity.
