Chapter 1080: Exam Ends

And indeed, as Instructor Jude had said, defeating everyone had taken Asher only eleven seconds. Only thirteen seconds had passed when one counted the one-second head start Asher had given them, and the final one second he spent looking at Ryaen’s face.

Ryaen’s head immediately snapped backwards as she finally gazed behind her. All around her were bodies littering the ground like dead, dried brown leaves. Her eyes couldn’t help but tremble as she wondered how Asher had defeated everyone in such a short amount of time.

’Has his strength touched this realm?’ she asked herself, as it felt preposterous to her that such a speed could even exist.

"So, why did you forfeit?" Instructor Jude asked as he floated downwards.

Asher’s eyes turned towards the man as he replied with a sigh, "It was better this way." He shook his head.

Asher had simply given up because if he won, many of these students would end up getting expelled. As for him, even if he failed this exam and the next one, it didn’t matter, as he wouldn’t be expelled. He was graduating soon, so there was no need to make a few students whose futures depended heavily on this get expelled.

Of course, if Asher was going to be affected by this somehow, like being expelled if he wasn’t applying for early graduation, then he surely wouldn’t sacrifice himself.

And so, for the first time in his life, Asher had failed an exam.

Ryaen and Instructor Jude weren’t idiots; they understood what Asher was implying. Even Instructor Jude, who had thought up the exam, hadn’t thought about it this way. He could only give a smile to the boy standing before him for a moment before he spoke.

"Asher Wargrave, failed," he stated as killing intent surged from his body.

The moment killing intent flared, covering all the students, the students instantly shot to their feet. The moment they regained consciousness, pain instantly bloomed across their entire bodies.

Asher stared at the students for a moment, then turned and walked away. Since he had already failed, there was no need to remain here, so he simply headed towards the next class.

"Did we pass?" A student asked as he looked around.

"It seems we failed..." Another replied as he guessed.

"Let’s just wait for Instructor Jude’s result," another stated with a sigh as he massaged his chin.

Instructor Jude turned towards the students as he watched Asher leave.

"You all lost," he began to speak as he floated into the air, "couldn’t even last more than eleven seconds against him." He shook his head as he spoke.

He didn’t exactly blame them; the Tenth Sun was outrageous, and he had witnessed something similar, after all, he was a classmate of Azaron back in the day.

"You all are only passing this exam because the Tenth Sun chose to give up after defeating all of you within eleven seconds," he stated in finality, then vanished as there was simply nothing more to do.

The students were stunned when they heard it. Eleven seconds? Even after hearing it, they struggled to believe it. It was impossible to them. None of them were slow, so how could the Tenth Sun defeat all one hundred and ninety-nine of them in eleven seconds? It was maddening.

"Just how strong can the Wargraves possibly even get?" Someone asked in an exasperated tone.

"I suggest the school sets up a different Academy just for the Wargraves. It’s unfair to normal people like us at this point," one replied with a shake of her head.

Someone seemed to remember something, then suddenly spoke, "Which one of you remembers seeing a purple flash?"

The students seemed to suddenly remember as they began to speak.

"I did!" One answered.

"I did too!" Another followed.

"It seems that was the Tenth Sun," one analyzed.

"Sigh... I wonder what ability that was. It has to be related to his soul-bound weapon, teleportation if I’m to assume," another student stated with a sigh.

The rest nodded their heads in agreement.

"It seems the Tenth Sun’s release loves the color purple. His hair and eyes are purple, his clothes are purple, even his teleportation leaves a faint purple light," a student couldn’t help but speak.

"Aside from that, we have to be grateful to the Tenth Sun. Without him, some of us would have ended our journey here," a boy suddenly said, reminding everyone that they had only passed because the Tenth Sun forfeited.

Silence descended on the forest for a moment before they sighed and started heading towards Instructor Jane’s location for her own examination. Now, those with two strikes had to pass this final exam.

Instructor Jane started her exam the moment every student gathered, not giving anyone time to recover from their injuries or anything of the sort. To her, if they wanted to recover, they should have stayed back at the hand-to-hand combat exam location since they had lots of time left, as the exam ended swiftly.

Instructor Jane’s exam was simple: just spar against her for her to check your progress. If she wasn’t satisfied, then you would fail. She didn’t bother sparring with Asher and automatically passed him. After all, she had watched his battle at the Inter-Empire tournament; his swordsmanship was high, and she knew that in a few years, she would be surpassed.

As for the rest of the students, many of them passed, but alas, it was impossible for everyone to pass. Thirty students failed, and out of the thirty, only twelve were going to be expelled.

The twelve expelled students immediately broke down into tears, seven of them being Nobles, the other five being commoners. Some of them blamed the General Knowledge exam that had been sprung on them, saying without it they would have passed.

But alas, it didn’t matter. By tomorrow, they would be teleported back to their various homes and territories.

And with that, the end-of-the-year exams came to an end.
