Runera’s red eyes snapped towards the incoming attack. She wasn’t surprised that Asher had chosen this approach; she had seen many people sacrifice themselves to land an attack. She wasn’t called the Sovereign of Battlefields for nothing, after all.
With one foot still on the ground, she shifted as she spun and pivoted on that foot, expertly dodging Asher’s light beam with extreme ease. Asher’s body shot backwards from the impact of her own attack as his trading blows plan had failed.
Asher rotated midair as he landed on the wall, canceling the momentum. He immediately activated the Lightning Armor skill as his entire body was covered in pure, crackling armor of Lightning. Light hummed around his body, boosting his speed and damage force even more.
His knees bent forward as he shot forward like a bolt of Lightning. The moment he closed the distance, he activated the Spatial Lock skill. Virelass thrust towards her throat as he froze her in place. But as the attack was about to land, Runera raised a hand and stopped the attack with her index fingernail.
Asher’s eyes narrowed as he didn’t understand how this woman had moved even though he had activated the Spatial Lock skill. If he had sensed any form of Astra energy being used to display any form of ability, skill, or element, then he would understand, but the woman simply ignored his restriction as though he was unworthy of keeping her in place.
"Has the Wargrave bloodline grown this weak?" She asked with the same smile on her face.
Her palm clamped down on Virelass, then, without a shred of hesitation, she turned around, her waist twisting as she launched Asher towards the wall with immense force. Asher’s body tore through the air, and as he was about to collide with the wall, he rotated and landed like an agile cat. But the moment he did, Runera was already there, her fingers thrusting like a spear towards his throat.
Asher tapped into his phasing form once more. The moment he dodged, Runera’s finger thundered against the metallic wall, unleashing a booming bang upon collision. Asher’s StellarFlame came alive as his entire body brightened up as its temperature rose to an unprecedented level. And with a catastrophic blast, a sizzling and eardrum-shattering explosion consumed the entire area.
Through the smoke, Asher’s body blurred backwards as he wondered if he had landed an attack. But through the smoke, Runera walked out with a calm smile on her face, the explosion doing nothing to injure her as she had simply tanked the explosion head-on.
"It seems your flames can affect and burn space itself, they are unique," she said, unbothered as the melted space within the room instantly healed and sealed shut.
Asher stared at Runera, he couldn’t help but wonder what was the upper limit of her current strength. Could she use the strength of a Crownstar Life Ranker, or maybe it was less, but he didn’t dare believe that. She hadn’t even drawn her soul-bound weapon, neither had she used any Astra energy or even her innate ability or element, as though she knew that using any of these would be an overkill.
Although it was said this was to test his current strength, Asher wasn’t one who loved getting beat up. Although he still had more skills and things to show, obviously the woman would anticipate all of them since she was already familiar with people who had the same abilities and elements back when she was alive.
He decided to just display his Rapier Technique and get it over with. He had showed his current elemental manipulation and control over his elements, showed his movement skills and current swordsmanship level. Although they hadn’t fought for long, he was sure that someone like Runera could understand where he stood in terms of everything and combat.
Runera suddenly stopped walking. She frowned for a moment, then sighed as she spoke, "I’m not one to continue fighting when my opponent has lost the will to fight." Her tone was flat.
She understood that Asher had made a few accurate deductions, hence simply wanted to show his created techniques and get it over with.
Asher paused for a moment as he had been seen through. He sighed internally as his Star Form vanished instantly, as he knew Runera wasn’t going to continue the fight.
"How old are you?" Runera asked calmly, her expression now flat.
"Nineteen," Asher replied as he sheathed Virelass.
Runera arched an eyebrow as she spoke, "Oh!!! It took you four years to get to this level. That’s pretty impressive."
"Two," Asher corrected her. "Took me two years."
Runera frowned for a moment as she asked, "So you are saying you awakened at the age of seventeen?"
Asher stayed silent for a moment, then replied, "Yes!"
Runera stayed silent as though she couldn’t believe a Wargrave had awakened so late. She couldn’t help but fear that the Wargrave was already in peak decline.
As though reading her mind, Asher explained, "All Wargraves still awaken on the first try... I’m sort of a special situation." He could sense her emotions, so he had to explain.
Hearing Asher’s words, Runera seemed to heave a sigh of relief as though she had been told that her greatest fear had been a lie.
"Well... if that’s the case, then it seems you are more monstrous than I originally thought," she spoke as her smile returned. Even in the past, those who gained strength quickly didn’t gain this level of strength in just two years.
Asher stayed silent for a moment and said nothing, not giving a smile or nod.
"Unfortunately, I’m not sure this place has any place to train that Star Energy of yours, so you can only rely on yourself," Runera continued.
"I understand, Matriarch," Asher replied as he had already guessed as much.
People didn’t even know that Star Energy existed. If this training facility had a place to train Star Energy, he would be very suspicious.
"Can I ask what your ability and soul weapon are?" Asher asked, as he was simply too curious not to know.
Runera arched an eyebrow for a moment. She opened her lips as though about to answer him, then she stopped as she shook her head as she spoke.
"Go read a few history books. I’m sure I and my feats are in here," she stated with an amusing smile as though she saw this as the perfect chance to make him read some books on the Wargraves.
Asher couldn’t help but give a defeated sigh. He didn’t know whether being like this was an innate gift of all Wargraves or something. Honestly, it was tiring. Would her soul explode if she just answered him?
Seeing Asher’s expression, she smiled and walked towards the altar as she spoke.
"Although it was a shame you quickly lost interest in the spar, it was still nice to get some fresh air and see the new generation," she said as she came to a stop before the altar.
Asher gave a weak smile, as he was indeed guilty. He simply bowed to the woman as he spoke, "It was an honor exchanging attacks with you, Sovereign of Battlefields."
Runera turned towards him for a moment, then spoke, "I look forward to your next visit. I hope I won’t be disappointed then."
With those final words, she touched the altar and her body vanished instantly as though she was never within the chamber with them.
