At Asher’s words, Damian couldn’t help but smirk. When he had chosen the name Algorith, his Vice Commanders had said it was dumb and stupid, insisting that he should look for something grander, but he had refused.
Now, after two hundred and sixty years, someone finally loved the name. He turned towards Michaelson Novrak, Ryuk Silverleaf, and Vanessa Thorne and gave them a knowing smirk. The three understood that he was being smug, but they said nothing.
This was the man’s first win after almost three centuries, and they wouldn’t beat him down over it.
Damian’s eyes shifted towards Saitama as he spoke. "I’m guessing that your father dragged you here."
Saitama sighed as he spoke. "I’m being held here against my wishes, Uncle Damian. Doesn’t the Frontier have rules against this?" His tone was exasperated.
He called Damian Uncle because he had indeed been familiar with him from a very young age. As the son of a Vice Commander who was friends with Damian, the Commander, it was only natural that he was familiar with the man.
Damian sighed as he shook his head. "Unfortunately, I can’t do anything, as I can’t prove you are being held here against your will. Just endure for two years, then you can quit."
At Damian’s words, Saitama sighed and glanced at his father, who simply smirked at him and moved his lips without actually speaking: Unfilial son.
Saitama moved his own lips as he responded: Unfilial father.
Ryuk smirked as he finally spoke aloud. "I will allow you to quit the Frontier on one condition. Agree, and you won’t have to spend two years here."
Saitama shifted his eyes towards Damian.
"Your father is a Vice Commander. He can break the rules whenever he wants," Damian shrugged as he spoke. "What’s the use of creating rules if they aren’t broken every once in a while?" he stated in an indifferent tone.
Saitama was speechless. Earlier, the man had just said he couldn’t do anything, and now he was saying that his father could break the rules whenever he wanted.
’At the end of the day, rules are for the weak,’ he stated as he sighed mentally.
Saitama turned his gaze towards his father as he spoke. "Let me guess, the condition is to learn swordsmanship, right?"
"Do you even need to ask?" Ryuk replied, his smirk remaining as though he had finally managed to trap his unfilial son.
Saitama stared at his father before speaking. "It seems two years isn’t that bad." He broke eye contact, his demeanor turning indifferent.
Ryuk’s smirk broke as he spoke. "Do you really want my sword techniques to die with me? You can’t punch and kick your way through everything," he argued.
Saitama remained indifferent as he spoke. "I can give you a grandchild. You can pass the technique to them before you die."
Ryuk could only sigh and give up. He had always tried to convince his son from a young age to learn swordsmanship, but the boy had always refused. He could only try his luck later. Maybe, somewhere down the line, the boy would change his mind.
Seeing the father and son end their yearly verbal spar, Damian spoke yet again.
"What do you think of the Frontier?"
Asher stayed silent for a moment before speaking. "Honestly, I don’t have any opinion, as I have nothing to compare it to." His tone was calm. "But I can at least say that you are paying people extremely well here. With the number of items you give them, it must cost a fortune to run this place."
Damian smirked as he replied, "It indeed costs a fortune to run this place daily, let alone yearly. But no matter how much it costs, my pockets can never run dry, as the Head of the Elox family can be considered poor when compared to me," he boasted about his wealth.
Asher stared at Damian as though the man understood who he was comparing himself to.
Sensing Asher’s curiosity, Damian decided to show him something fun.
"I’m sure you have a coin, so take it out," Damian said, not explaining what he was about to do, as showing was better than telling.
Asher didn’t hesitate. He took out a platinum coin, placed it on the table, and slid it towards the man. As the coin stopped in front of Damian, both Asher and Saitama watched curiously.
Damian instantly activated his Calculator ability, a multiplication (×) sign appearing on his forehead as his Astra Energy stirred. The next moment, another platinum coin appeared beside the first, emerging from literal nothingness.
Before Asher could even react, the multiplication intensified. Two became ten, ten became one thousand, and one thousand became a million, as coins swallowed both Asher and Saitama in a mere second.
Astra Energy pulsed from Asher’s body as he used telekinesis to lift the coins. He simply stared at Damian as though the man were a monster. His mathematical brain couldn’t understand how Damian had done it. For multiplication to work, or even for addition or any other mathematical operation to work, there needed to be two figures.
So, how had one become two and two become this many? What had Damian multiplied it against?
Asher thought for a moment before instantly switching off his brain, realizing that he might have been approaching the matter from the wrong angle. His brain spun for a moment before he arrived at an answer that made sense. Damian was multiplying the existence of the coin, meaning he was essentially manipulating the coin’s quantity in a sense.
Asher didn’t know exactly what to say about this ability. He had thought that this Great Elder could manipulate only concepts and not physical things. But in a way, it kind of made perfect sense.
And through this ability, Damian was indeed richer than the Head of the Elox family. After all, the man had to give out coins to multiply his own network through a random rebate, but Damian didn’t need any of that.
Not only that, he was richer because he could multiply resources infinitely. For example, the space rings each Cadet was given, which were scaled according to Frontier Ranks, could simply be purchased by Damian and multiplied into a million in less than a blink.
His Calculator ability was that overpowered.
So, money? He was richer. Resources? He was also richer.
He could become the richest man alive or dead at that very moment if he so wanted. But he wasn’t at the moment. After all, why carry trillions of coins when he could easily turn a single copper coin into any amount?
He didn’t need to maintain a vault filled with cash, as his existence was the vault itself.
Saitama, who was seated nearby, moved a few platinum coins into his space ring. Yes, he was the son of a Vice Commander and had been rich since his father had bathed him in money, but that didn’t mean he would say no to such a ridiculous amount of wealth.
After a moment, Asher finally spoke in an exasperated tone. "I guess the Frontier can never lack anything as long as you remain alive." Asher sighed as he shook his head.
Damian gave a smile and a nod but said nothing else.
