Chapter 1188: Report

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Damian, who was floating above, seemed to read through the thoughts flashing through Asher’s mind. He gave an indifferent smile as he spoke.

"You don’t really think your Second Layer Of Space nonsense can bypass my senses, right, Cadet Asher?"

He asked in an amused tone as he floated downward from the air and towards Asher’s level. As he floated down, he continued calmly.

"Your Father also possesses the same skill, and has shown it off quite a lot, so I know a lot about it and can see through it at this point."

He mused as he came to a stop, referring to Asher as a Cadet and not his Grandnephew at this moment, like he had done when Asher had met him privately two days ago.

As Damian floated down, Asher bowed as he spoke in a respectful tone.

"I greet the Commander."

His greeting was precise as he picked up on the change in title that Damian was using.

As Asher spoke, Lyra, who was behind him, followed up in a calm tone as she, too, bowed.

"I greet the Third Great Elder."

She didn’t refer to Damian as the Commander since she wasn’t exactly officially part of the Frontier. She held no rank, she wasn’t a Cadet, nor was she part of the Miscellaneous Group that served the Frontier.

At Lyra’s words, Damian seemed to finally acknowledge her presence. He turned towards her, his eyes staying on her for a moment as he read her presence. After a moment of observation, he spoke.

"Congratulations on your breakthrough to the Crownstar Life Rank, Lyra."

Lyra was stunned for a moment that the Third Great Elder knew her name and even knew about her breakthrough to the Crownstar Life Rank.

It wasn’t that Damian particularly knew or cared about Lyra. He only knew of her name simply because she had joined his Frontier; that was all. If she wasn’t a Crownstar Life Ranker, Damian wouldn’t have spoken to her and would have simply nodded in her direction.

Not because he was arrogant, as even if he was, he had the right and power to be, but simply because since he was born, he had always been surrounded by Maids and Butlers, so nothing exactly would have made Lyra special and separated her from the rest.

As for how she got to the Crownstar Life Rank, Damian didn’t ask, although he knew she wasn’t at the Crownstar Life Rank in the past, nor was she at the Radiant Soulstar Life Rank, as all Elders and Great Elders knew of the Crownstar Life Rankers that the Family had, and even Radiant Soulstar Life Rankers that might achieve a breakthrough in the future.

And Lyra was on neither of those lists.

Turning his attention away from Lyra, Damian focused on Asher once more as he spoke with his hands clasped behind his back.

"Report everything you’ve found, Cadet Asher."

He stated calmly. Although he had a general idea, he knew that at this moment, the Youngest was the most knowledgeable on the matter.

Although Asher didn’t exactly know how Soldiers reported their findings or where they began, he decided to just wing it.

"During the course of my mission with Cadet James, Cadet Ken, Cadet Jasmine, Cadet Iris, and Corporal Sonya, I encountered a decoy underground space."

Asher began to speak as he decided to start from the very beginning, as he didn’t know exactly what Corporal Sonya must have said in her own report.

Damian simply listened without asking questions or interrupting Asher. But as Asher spoke, the more the frown on his face deepened, as he couldn’t believe what he had just heard. Earlier, when he had gotten Corporal Sonya’s report from a General, he had thought that a group of Emovirae was hiding there and being led by a Rank 10 Emovira or even a Sinvaira.

Which he later knew how wrong he was after he sensed the presence of a Crownstar Life Ranker. But for the Velkarin Empire to have infiltrated them this deeply was something no one had foreseen.

Asher didn’t hide anything, not omitting a single detail as he even made his guess of a spy or multiple spies known.

Damian didn’t outright shoot down the idea of spies by claiming that all Soldiers were loyal and wouldn’t betray him and the Empire. He understood how reality worked and that people had weaknesses, as the only people who had no weaknesses were those who had nothing to lose.

But, still, he didn’t particularly suspect anyone or accuse anyone. He would carry out his own investigation, then report this matter to the Emperor and also spread the word across all Frontiers and Outposts. But he was going to follow the advice of this Grandnephew of his, as he didn’t want the Velkarin Empire Soldiers finding out and launching a sneak attack ahead of time.

"Your contribution to the Empire and the Frontier has been recorded, Cadet Asher. You will be rewarded accordingly after this is over."

Damian finally spoke after Asher was done reporting all the facts and guesses. He broke eye contact with Asher as he turned towards another direction.

Damian raised a hand, his thumb holding back his index finger, then he released his index finger, which snapped forward with force. With a booming sound, wind pressure swept out, slamming into the churning cloud of dust, smoke, and debris, clearing the battlefield.

The Velkarin Soldiers below felt the impact, some of them being knocked backwards as they rolled on the floor, some skidding backwards, some standing without moving.

Damian hadn’t attacked anyone; he was simply clearing the area to see what he was about to take on.

As the smoke and dust cleared, Asher, Lyra, and Damian’s eyes fell on the Velkarin Empire Soldiers and their four Regents. The Velkarin Empire Soldiers also glanced back at the three of them.

Although they didn’t recognize Lyra and Damian, they sure did recognize the Tenth Sun. They didn’t need to be told to know that they had been exposed and the explosion was an attack from either of the three floating above them. Although they had already subconsciously removed Lyra from their minds since she was a mere Maid.

And for Damian, they didn’t need to be told to know he was the Commander of this Frontier, as they knew only the Commander wore white. But his identity as a Wargrave remained unknown to most of the weaker Soldiers.

"Hoo!!! So the Velkarin Empire sent you. Are you here for a rematch after running away the last time? If I remember, you lost a limb and your left eye back then."

Damian’s voice came as he finally remembered the woman standing before him, his tone filled with familiarity.

At Damian’s words, the Grand Regent’s face immediately twisted into a frown. She was indeed familiar with the man floating above them; she just hadn’t thought he remembered, since Wargraves usually forgot about their enemies since they always fought many people.

The First Regent, Second Regent, and Third Regent, who were standing behind her, were dumbfounded at Damian’s words. They had thought that their Grand Regent had no earlier encounter with Damian Wargrave, and from the way the man spoke and their Grand Regent’s lack of resolve to defend herself verbally, it seemed the allegations were indeed true.
