Chapter 1197: Sheep

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

The moment those words left her lips, her figure flashed beside the Third Regent, her fist shooting outwards like a bullet. With bone-crushing force, her fist met his left cheek, the force sending the Third Regent sideways as he hadn’t expected Vanessa to close the distance so fast.

Before he could cross over one kilometer in distance, Vanessa flung her thorn whip, and it wrapped around the Third Regent’s left ankle. She spun midair, pulling the Third Regent around like a kite, and with a final spin, she slammed him towards the ground with a wide grin on her face.

Before his body could slam into the ground, the Third Regent acted, his Astra Energy humming as he summoned yet another Shadow from one of his tattoos. The summon appeared to be a sheep with an immense amount of white wool on its body. It instantly created a large bed of white wool on the ground at the point of impact. With a muffled sound, the Third Regent’s body slammed into the bed of wool, mitigating all damage.

Another summon surged from his body, a Praying Mantis this time. It flashed towards the thorn vine around the Third Regent’s ankle, then severed it with its scythe-like upper limbs, freeing the Third Regent.

A third summon appeared; it was a black Rabbit this time. It stood on the Third Regent’s head, pouring green energy into his body, instantly healing the broken bone and injuries that came from Vanessa’s punch earlier.

The Third Regent’s head snapped towards Vanessa, but all he saw was a woman who was closing the distance with a face that bore pure excitement. Her hand drew backwards as she readied another punch.

The Third Regent didn’t dodge; he simply stared at the incoming attack as he remained seated on the bed of wool without a shred of worry. The Sheep summon behind him bleated, Astra Energy surging from it as new wool manifested before the Third Regent, forming a shield.

With a muffled bang, fist met wool barrier, a charged tempest of gale roaring outwards as the air barrier itself imploded. Everything within a thousand-kilometer radius warped and shattered as the shockwave sliced through it all.

Vanessa Thorne arched an eyebrow. She hadn’t expected a mere sheep’s wool to stop her attack, which was extremely surprising to her. But she didn’t think much about it; she already had the Praying Mantis moving for her neck.

She immediately turned around as she transitioned into two different motions at the same time, her body lowering as she dodged the slash at her neck, while her left foot simultaneously left the ground to meet the Praying Mantis’ carapace that covered its chest.

But as the heel of her foot was about to collide with the Praying Mantis, green wings erupted from its back. The wings flapped as they beat through the air with a buzzing sound, boosting its speed as it dodged at the last possible moment.

But as Vanessa focused on the Praying Mantis, the Third Regent tore through the barrier of wool, his fist roaring towards Vanessa’s chest.

But Vanessa hadn’t been caught off guard. She had already anticipated his attack before she attacked the Praying Mantis, as she knew only the Praying Mantis and the Third Regent himself possessed fighting capabilities here, while the Rabbit was for healing and the Sheep was for defence, both playing supporting roles.

So she reacted, her Astra Energy surging as thorn vines burst out from the ground, forming a dome before her and blocking the fist from the Third Regent. With a booming sound, fist met thorn vine barrier. The barrier shook, but it remained steadfast.

Vanessa immediately transitioned from physical attacks to magical ones as the thorn vines from her barrier shot out with flickering speed, surging from the sides of the wool barrier as she aimed to trap both the Sheep, Rabbit, and the Third Regent.

But the Third Regent had already learned his lesson the first time he summoned his minions. He knew if this lowly woman got a hold of his summons again, she would seal them, then crush them.

Hence, he immediately canceled their summons, their bodies turning into wisps of smoke while he vanished from the cotton bed he stood on, the thorn vines capturing nothing. As Vanessa was about to give chase, she stopped as she leaned to the side, dodging a scythe’s downward slash from the Praying Mantis.

But the Praying Mantis didn’t let up, its speed increasing as its wings beat once more, as it followed up with a second attack from its second scythe-like upper limb.

Humans weren’t the only prodigies. Monsters and Emovirae also gave birth to prodigies, and clearly, this Praying Mantis was one. The vines around Vanessa surged as they formed a barrier once more, but the Praying Mantis’ cutting power was simply too good as it cleaved through the thorn vine barrier like a sheet of paper.

But before it could even do anything else, vines bound its lower limbs and wings, stopping it in place. With a grin on her face, Vanessa’s fist, cloaked in Astra Energy, met the Praying Mantis’ carapace with staggering physical prowess.

The Praying Mantis skidded backwards as it blocked by channeling its Astra Energy into its carapace, strengthening it and also creating an Astra Energy barrier in front of the carapace to block.

Yet it still took damage as the carapace shattered, revealing its weak and soft flesh. The next moment, the Rabbit appeared above the Praying Mantis in a blur, healing power pouring into the Praying Mantis, instantly healing it and regenerating its carapace.

Vanessa moved once more, her body a blur as she moved to end the Praying Mantis, as she knew killing it would end it for the time being, since she had already reached such a conclusion from the earlier summons.

But before she could finish closing the distance, the Third Regent had already acted. In the sky, he stood on the back of a huge green Bird Monster. The Bird flapped its wings, sending down thousands of metallic feathers that could injure a Soulstar Life Ranker. If they weren’t that powerful, Vanessa would ignore them.

But Vanessa didn’t react. She created a vine barrier as she moved to end the Rabbit and Praying Mantis, but before her fist could connect, the Rabbit and Praying Mantis both undid their summoning by themselves, as they possessed the right to do so.

The metallic feathers tore through the vine barrier, plunging into Vanessa’s body, drawing blood that dripped to the ground and trickled down her body. She gazed at her injuries, then ignored them.

Her Astra Energy hummed once more, the thorn whip on her waist rising as vines shot up from it, wrapping around her and healing her injuries ever so slowly.

The thorn whip on her waist wasn’t a weapon crafted by some blacksmith, but instead a product of her own Thorn Vine innate ability.

She raised her head towards the sky, her red eyes blazing with battle intent as her Astra Energy exploded in a surging wave. The next moment, everything within a three-thousand-kilometer radius transformed into a landscape of pure thorn vines. With a thought, endless tendrils of vines shot upwards, filling the sky as they surged towards the Third Regent.
