Chapter 1267: Two Centuries Of Accumulation

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Azaron and Morthern, who stood at the side, were stunned when they sensed the presence that Morgana had instinctively suppressed. If that presence had erupted in earnest, it would have revealed to the world just how powerful she had become.

However, since they had been standing right in front of her, they had managed to get a glimpse of her presence before it vanished.

"It seems she is now on par with you... Uncle Morthern."

Azaron spoke with a voice filled with surprise. Throughout the Wargrave Family, he was the only one stronger than Morthern at the moment, while the others were simply weaker than the old man.

But at this moment, according to what Azaron had sensed, Morgana had leapfrogged into a new realm of power through the Evolution she had just undergone.

"Almost, but not quite there."

Morthern replied, disagreeing with the notion that Morgana had crossed such a chasm so easily.

Although he disagreed, he was still happy. His heart was practically beating out of pure excitement. Morgana was his younger sister; who wouldn’t be happy to see their younger sibling grow stronger?

Morgana had approached him a couple of times in the past, wondering if any of the novels and manga he had read featured a character with a Cloud ability, as she wanted to read about how such a character manipulated and utilized their powers and abilities.

She would then try to infuse such methods and techniques into her own training. It was a good idea, but alas, Morthern had never read about such a character.

Azaron’s golden eyes shifted towards Morthern, but he said nothing else. Deep down, he couldn’t wait for a showdown between the two siblings. He was sure it would happen, although he wasn’t confident that Morgana would win due to Morthern’s extensive range of abilities and his classifications of them.

Morthern’s green eyes never left his sister. Although he wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about Ability Evolution, he could guess that not everyone experienced such an insane boost in strength and other attributes.

And indeed, his thoughts were correct. Grace, the Grand Regent whom Damian had faced, was the perfect example. Although her ability had evolved and she had become even more ridiculous, awakening Deaugmentation as part of her ability despite never possessing it before, she had still fallen short during the battle.

But Morgana was different. Unlike Grace, she had two centuries of accumulation and experience. Two centuries spent pursuing a singular goal, two centuries devoted to evolving her ability to the next level.

With that amount of time and effort invested in it, her gains couldn’t possibly be the same as those of the Grand Regent.

Hence, the gains Morgana received were significantly greater than what Grace had obtained, allowing the Second Great Elder to cross the chasm separating her from these two abnormal men.

"Congratulations, Morgana."

Morthern said with a genuine smile as he walked forward, his eyes shining as he approached enthusiastically, almost like a child.

As he came to a stop, he couldn’t help but gaze at her from head to toe, trying to identify any changes.

"What changes did you experience? What did your Cloud Affinity evolve into? Did you gain a second ability? Or maybe even a third? By how much did your Astra Energy reserves increase?"

Morthern fired off question after question, seemingly nothing like his usual self. He was nothing like the Morthern who carried himself with grace and composure.

Morthern didn’t care. At that moment, he was simply an excited older brother.

Although Morgana had been pursuing her goal of evolving her ability for over two centuries, Morthern had never been tempted to join her.

He had been persuaded by Morgana to join her efforts in the past. She had told him to imagine what his Reality Fiction ability would evolve into if he actually succeeded.

At the time, Morgana had suggested that perhaps, just perhaps, if his Reality Fiction ability evolved, he might be able to summon the novel characters themselves into reality and make them permanent residents of the world, where they would become his subordinates.

Morthern wouldn’t lie; it was a tempting idea, but he had chosen to remain true to his goal of simply reading about fictional characters. Besides, he would rather those characters remained fictional, as there was no guarantee they would listen to him if summoned.

Ability Evolution was Morgana’s path, not his.

Morgana didn’t bother replying to Morthern. She simply looked around and asked in a confused tone.

"Where are the two guys I was fighting before my ability evolved?"

She needed to test her new affinity on them as a way of thanking them. They both deserved to be the first to witness it and its grandeur.

"They’re both dead. Uncle Morthern and I each killed one."

Azaron answered calmly, as he was sure Morgana had already guessed this.

The reason Morgana had attacked Damian when he came to help her was because of her impending Ability Evolution. She had been putting everything on the line to evolve her ability during the fight.

As someone who had already spent two centuries pursuing this goal and had even undergone the evolution partially, she could feel the complete evolution approaching as the pressure increased and she was forced to make various life-or-death decisions.

Azaron knew this. It was the reason he had simply discussed matters with Cindralis without interfering, despite all the injuries Morgana had sustained.

"Why did the two of you kill them? How am I supposed to thank them now?"

She asked with a frown on her face. Her preferred method of thanking them would have been to test out new ways of poisoning people through her evolved ability.

"You were defenseless during the Evolution, Morgana. That Pillar of Light wasn’t going to protect you or anything of the sort. If those two had attacked during the Evolution, two centuries of hard work would have gone down the drain, and you would have died too."

Morthern replied as he shook his head. He knew that was exactly what those two would have done. She had only been saved because they had responded swiftly. Otherwise...

Hearing Morthern’s answer, she decided to calm down. She sighed weakly, then turned towards Azaron for a moment before ignoring him and turning towards her brother.

"How about a spar, Elder Brother?"

A smile appeared on her lips.

Morthern smiled back at her as he replied in a teasing tone.

"How about you fight Azaron first and defeat him as a rite of passage before challenging me? You’ve lost numerous times before, even after your ability evolved halfway, so you have to prove yourself worthy of challenging me this time."

Morgana wasn’t stupid. Even after her evolution, her sharpened instincts told her she would lose if she faced Azaron. She knew Morthern was simply looking for an excuse to avoid fighting her.

"I guess you’re afraid of losing to your younger sister, then."

She replied with a shrug, counting the battle as her automatic victory.

Morthern remained silent before shaking his head and speaking.

"No problem, then. But don’t become depressed after you lose again. It’s best to take all the time you need to get used to your new ability, as I’m sure your first excuse for losing will be that you hadn’t gotten used to your abilities before fighting me."
