Adam had passed through the underground entrance leading to the Nexus Hall as Zhou Liang. But when he arrived before the control room, he had already become Han Xun.
The Laughing God whispered in his ears, and Adam listened. The voices got louder and louder, but all he did was grin widely.
Without the constant suppression of the Eternal Soul Lotus, the ravings of the Faceless Mask grew intense every time he used it.
But so what?
Adam viciously bit on his tongue, forcing himself to strangle the crazed fit of laughter that was about to escape from his lips.
With a mad, bloody grin on his face... or rather Han Xun’s face, Adam arrived before the true entrance of the Nexus Hall. Upon entering it, he found the entire room inscribed with rune magic. This was the main focal point of the magic that protected the Wall.
He expanded the Sphere of Resonance, studying every inch of the hall. He learned that the complexity of the runes here wasn’t nearly as great as the ones around the portals.
Of course, this was probably inscribed by the leader of the Tisha Tang, and the ones around the portals were the handiwork of the Cult Leader, he thought to himself.
But still, this is not bad...
After studying the runes for almost thirty minutes, he finally got to work.
He was going to be busy the entire night. His work was critical for the survival of the Tsuitsui forces. Needless to say, Adam was under quite a lot of pressure.
While he had stayed in the Tsuitsui Clan, he had come to make many friends there. He sure as hell didn’t want them to die.
It took him close to three hours to finish what he’d come here to do. If it weren’t for the voices in his head, telling him to blow everything up, he figured he’d be able to alter the runes in less than an hour.
Now that all controls for the Wall had been taken care of, it was time for him to deal with the two-thousand-man army.
He exited the Nexus Hall and closed the doors behind him, wiping all traces of his presence in there.
I have enough toxins to poison the camp’s food and water supply, he thought to himself as he made his way up.
The enemy will be severely weakened by the time they engage in battle tomorrow... morning...
His thoughts came to a gradual halt when he sensed a section of the basement sealed off behind a pair of towering iron doors. Judging by the sheer number of wards placed on the doors, Adam assumed that whatever lay beyond the doors had to be exceptionally precious.
And the fact that this storage hall was built right beside the Nexus Hall only strengthened that assumption.
Adam’s heart bloomed with avarice.
Please, please, please be gold! He thought to himself as he walked towards the iron doors.
Before he realized it, he found himself dismantling the wards placed on the doors. Several minutes later, the seals broke one by one, and the iron doors creaked open.
The contents of the storage finally came into view.
The moment Adam’s senses swept across the items inside, his body trembled in disbelief.
"No way..."

The fifth day began with the sun rising over the blood-soaked battlefield.
On the Tiesha Tang side, two thousand fresh soldiers began forming their ranks within the Wall. Their armor was polished, their weapons steady, and their faces carried an air of certainty. They believed that victory was already within grasp.
Beyond the Wall, across the bloody battlefield, the remaining Tsuitsui soldiers stood battered and bruised. Bandages covered arms, torsos, and foreheads. Many of them swayed slightly from exhaustion.
Yet their eyes, tired, sunken, and reddened, burned with a fierce, unyielding resolve. They knew the odds, they understood the cost, but not a single man stepped back.
Confidence faced desperation.
Strength faced willpower.
As the light of the radiant sun slowly spread across the battlefield, both armies prepared to settle everything in their final clash.
Inside the command tent of the Tsuitsui army, Goro and the top officers had gathered. The battle had yet to begin, the enemy was still inside the Wall, so they still had some time left.
"Brother..." Seishin called out. "Are we really doing this?"
Goro remained silent as he fastened his armor.
Kagenami chimed in, "The fifth day has arrived, and we’ve yet to hear anything from Brother Ao. Perhaps, we should..."
He wanted to suggest a tactical retreat, but the words never escaped his lips.
The pride of the Tsuitsui Clan prevented him from muttering such words.
Suddenly, Goro raised his head and smiled. "Do not fret, brothers."
The Magi were slightly taken aback, wondering where Goro’s confidence stemmed from. Or perhaps, he was just pretending so as to become their pillar of support?
But Goro’s next words caused them to be stunned.
"I have received word from Brother Ao," he said with a smirk.
"What?!"
"How can that be?!"
"Wasn’t he unable to cast spells?"
"No, more importantly, what did he say?!"
Goro nodded. "It’s true he can’t cast spells, and so he’s unable to summon a messenger. But I sent him a spirit messenger earlier in the morning, and he sent a letter back through it."
"What did he say?!" Seishin pressed.
Goro’s grin widened. "He only wrote two words."
He paused for a moment, then added:
"Be ready."

Atop the battlements on the Wall, Han Xun had just arrived with his entourage.
The Magi stationed there, as well as the top officers of the army, had already begun to congratulate him on the victory.
Han Xun waved his hand. "We haven’t won yet. Do not become complacent."
But the smug look in his eyes betrayed his words.
He arrived at the edge of the battlement, hands resting on the railing. His gaze swept over the pitiful Tsuitsui soldiers preparing for battle, and he couldn’t help but ridicule them:
"Look at these fools. Knowing that they will lose, they still won’t retreat. No, their pride won’t allow them. Especially that man, Goro Tsuitsui. He’d rather die than turn his back and run."
Zhou Liang approached him and suggested with a wicked smile, "Boss, let us crush their spirits today! The men downstairs are itching for battle!"
Han Xun stroked his chin, deep in thought.
He had wanted to stretch the battle for another day, hoping to thoroughly crush Goro. But at the same time, he was quite eager to secure the victory and start torturing his arch nemesis.
"Fine!" His lips curled into a wide grin. "Send all two thousand men today!"
He then retrieved an octagonal jade disk from his ring and asked, "Are the men ready?"
"Yes, Boss!" Zhou Liang nodded, his lips curling into a crazed grin.
"Everything is prepared..."
"Very well." Han Xun injected mana into the jade disk and activated the mechanism to open the Wall’s towering gates.
"Let us slaughter the Tsuitsui bastards—"
However, his words abruptly died in his throat. His expression darkened as he realized...
The Wall’s gates wouldn’t open!
