Chapter 1607 The Truth

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Lebu Potts cut through the sea of onlookers.

His sharp gaze was fixed on the platform, and there was no hesitation in the way he carried himself. He led three people behind him two were Agents of the Brotherhood, while the third was an old man with his head covered.

From the way he was restrained, it was clear he was their prisoner.

The people around them quickly stepped aside, creating a path as the group advanced toward the stage. The atmosphere in that part of the square grew tense as curious eyes followed their every movement.

Soon, the small group arrived before the main platform.

So this man is Constantine the Tyrant...

Lebu thought to himself in slight nervousness as he gazed at the raven-haired youth standing calmly on the platform.

Otherwise known as the Dark King!

Lovelace turned to Nylian Feno and asked with a light frown, "Have these men been vetted by the Lord Marshall?"

The elf nodded silently, then gestured for the Magi of the Black Legion to allow them onto the platform.

Getting a nod from the Lord of Ravenfell, Almansour walked up to Lebu Potts and solemnly said, "Magus, please introduce yourself to everyone gathered. And..."

He turned to the hunched old man whose head was covered in black cloth.

"And tell us the identity of this person as well."

Lebu nodded.

He first glanced at Adam, who was hailed as something of a legend in the Brotherhood - especially after the recent revelations that followed the purge. At last, he turned to the crowd and began.

"My name is Lebu Potts, a Magus from the Sovereign Union in Europa."

He gestured toward the Agents standing behind him and briefly introduced them. Finally, he turned to the blindfolded man and added, his tone carrying contempt:

"And this is the man who will provide testimony proving Lord Constantine's innocence regarding the charges of treason against the Empire during the Battle of Ravenfell."

The square fell silent again.

Not a murmur rose from the crowd this time. Tens of thousands simply stared at the platform, their attention fixed on the blindfolded man standing beside Lebu Potts.

The first witness had already shattered one of the accusations against Adam. And now... there was another.

Unease began to spread through the masses. If this witness also proved Adam's innocence... then a disturbing question would remain.

Had the people of Ravenfell condemned the wrong man?

For forty-five years, they had carried anger and hatred toward the Deceitful

One. But what if that hatred had never been deserved?

What if... the Deceitful One had never deceived anyone?

Adam glanced at the blindfolded person and quickly realized his identity.

The Old Man really came through, he thought in gratitude.

Lebu walked toward the witness and, with a cold look on his face, pulled the blindfold away.

The man revealed beneath it was elderly and worn, his face lined with age and hardship. It was clear he had seen far better days.

Lebu Potts pointed at the elderly man and loudly declared, his words ringing like thunder in everyone's ears.

"This man is a heinous criminal who once worked for the Cult of Bones. His name... is Uther Bowman!"

The crowd stared at the frail old man on the platform, their eyes wide with disbelief.

No one had expected this.

A witness who had once worked directly for the Cult!

Even many of the Magi watching from the viewing platforms rose to their feet, their expressions turning sharp and serious. The atmosphere in the square shifted at once, turning grim and heavy.

If this man truly belonged to the Cult... then whatever he was about to say could change everything!

Magus Lovelace quickly stepped forward to examine the elderly man. To him, Uther Bowman looked no different from a dead man. Especially given the signs of torture on his body, and the fact that the man was missing hands!

"My Lord," Lebu began. "Prior to coming here, this man had been fed several potions that turned his consciousness cloudy. At the same time, they make him far more susceptible to speaking the truth."

Lovelace couldn't help but frown. He grabbed Bowman's wrist, then examined the extent of damage inside his body.

But soon, his eyes widened in shock, and he blurted out:

"Mana Core... He's a Mana Core Magus!!"

The people were alarmed to hear that. This revelation unsettled many in the crowd. Such figures were rare and powerful, beings who stood at the peak of

arcane strength.

To see one standing there as a bound prisoner, serving as a witness, was something no one had ever expected.

"Go ahead."

Adam's calm voice cut through the heavy atmosphere in the square.

He turned to Almansour and continued, "Ask this man about the truth of the

Battle of Ravenfell."

The raven-haired youth faced the crowd and raised his voice.

"All of you wanted the truth," he said.

He paused, his gaze sweeping across the sea of faces.

"But can you handle it?"

Almansour had never expected the public hearing to take such a shocking turn.

He gulped nervously as Adam's words echoed in his ears.

The truth... could he really handle it?

It was time to find out.

"You!" He quickly approached the dazed Uther Bowman. "Tell us! Tell us about

the Battle of Ravenfell! Was Adam Constantine truly working for the Cult of

Bones?!"

Uther Bowman remained silent for a few moments. Then he slowly shook his

head.

"No..."

Almansour's heart skipped a beat. The people gathered in the crowd felt the color drain from their faces.

"Go ahead." Adam pressed with narrowed eyes. "Ask him the truth. Ask him the

real reason for the Battle of Ravenfell."

The master of ceremonies couldn't help but subconsciously gulp. He was afraid

of finding out the truth.

But it was also his duty to bring the truth to light.

He gritted his teeth and asked.

"Tell us," he said. "Tell us the reason! Tell everyone why the Cult attacked

Ravenfell on that day!"

The crowd held its breath.

Across the square, tens of thousands waited in tense silence. On the viewing

platform, many of the Magi had risen to their feet, their eyes fixed on the old man as anticipation thickened in the air.

At last, Uther Bowman's lips parted, and he slowly answered.

"The Battle of Ravenfell," he said slowly, his voice dull under the effects of the

potions.

"It was... orchestrated... to deal a severe blow to the Acadian Empire by... eliminating Saratoga's Headmaster and the... Second Emperor. And..."

"And?!" Almansour pressed, his eyes bloodshot.

Bowman's next words struck everyone present like a bolt of lightning. "To capture... Adam Constantine."
