The devastation from Asher’s last attack continued echoing throughout their battlefield as everything was erased in totality as nothing existed around them anymore, as though only nothingness existed, leaving behind an oppressive silence that seemed to stretch endlessly in every direction, even the remnants of their previous battle as though the battlefield itself had been stripped of every trace of life and movement that had once occupied this place just moments before.Asher didn’t move, he stood motionless with Virelass still held in his hands as she hummed in pure glee at the final attack she had just unleashed. As for why Asher was motionless, he was in what seemed to be a trance state. The next moment, the trance state broke, his sense snapping back to reality as the next moment he bent forward and vomited a mouthful of blood.
He held his chest, his heart seemingly getting weaker and weaker with each passing moment as he continued to vomit blood. His body shaking as though his body was rejecting the existence of something, or it was receiving backlash for touching the an uncharted territory.
His skin began to pale as organs began to pale, as other organs began to fail too.
Arianna appeared beside him in a flash as she teleported again, her left hand still missing. Her face twisted into a frown as she saw Asher paling in real time and vomiting blood endlessly.
"Asher, what’s happening?" She asked, her voice shaking a bit as she couldn’t help but reason that maybe, just maybe that ’Z’ had used one final sneak attack or something even after she sealed his Astra energy, although it was supposed to be impossible on both fronts, she didn’t disregard the fact.
But Asher couldn’t reply as he seemed to be dying in real time.
Virelass who had been humming in happiness earlier immediately snapped out of her glee as she immediately got to work. She didn’t dare use any blood that was of lower quality as she immediately tapped into the reserves of End-class blood she had, which was upgrading by her new ability after her evolution.
Asher felt a ridiculous amount of vitality course through his body as End-class Monster blood seemed to do more than just heal. But it was just an illusion due to his dying state. Asher’s spasming body started to calm down as color returned to his skin.
His heart which was about to stop beating started beating again, organs were all brought back to life through Crimson Pact. Within a couple seconds, he was back in his perfectly healed state as only fatigue remained.
Asher weakly rose to his feet as he wiped the blood from his mouth, he exhaled as he stared at the amount of blood he had vomited wondering if someone can even vomit this amount of blood.
"What happened? One moment you were dying and now you are perfectly fine. Is it ’Z’s last attack?" Arianna asked again.
Asher sighed as he replied, "I don’t really know what happened, but I don’t think it’s ’Z’ attack or anything of the sort" he answered truthfully, "and my rapier, Virelass was who healed me just now" he stated in finality.
Arianna’s eyes shifted to Virelass who was floating beside Asher with a calm hum and merely nodded. With that, her head turned as she stared at the battlefield around them, and all she saw was nothing for the stretching five thousand kilometers radius. There was no light too as though the entirty of light photons in the air was erased. But light was returning ever so slowly.
"What types of attacks did you use to cause such scar upon the world itself" Arianna couldn’t help but ask as her eyes took in everything.
She knew Asher had used two attacks, one from his soul-bound rapier, and the other that erupted from his body. Personally, she was guessing it was the one that came from his body, after all, throughout the battle, she had never sensed Asher use Astra energy once, and he finally only used it with his soul-bound rapier when unleashing that final attack.
As for the one from his body, she didn’t know what it was, but she knew it was related to the unique energy he possessed, one that she had come to understand as Star Energy.
But if there was something Arianna knew, it was that only Crownstar Life Rankers are able to carve scars upon the world itself through their sheer destruction power, after all they could destroy millions in kilometers. And her Father has one destroyed everything in half a million kilometers radius, and she checked on such site every year, and it showed no sign of healing.
She couldn’t help but feel that the destruction Asher had caused of that same scale, well, not enough to injure a Crownstar Life Ranker, but it carved a scar into the world too.
She didn’t bother thinking or asking why Asher never used such an attack during the Inter-Empire competition as she had come to a conclusion that he only got one of the two attack he just used after eating the Fruit Of Dawn, and the other as an inspiration during their battle with ’Z’ after all, she saw Asher’s final moments before he unleashed those attacks and after he did, right before he started vomiting blood.
Asher stayed silent for a moment at Arianna’s question before he replied, "I myself don’t really know" his answer honest.
"But I can try to find out" he added as he floated into the air and sat with his eyes closed in a lotus position as though he was going to access his body, but he wasn’t, he was only going to ask his system. If the system didn’t have an answer, he would simply stop overthinking the whole thing.
’Hey, lazy system, what happened? I almost died, why was my body breaking down?’ he asked as he addressed the system.
[Ding]
[The Host should stop calling the system lazy as the system is an unpaid labourer, who doesn’t even receive thanks for its services and support]
Asher felt like rolling his eyes at the system’s words, but he had his eyes closed.
’Aren’t you growing cheeky by the day?’ Asher asked.
[That’s what happens when any system is stuck with a greedy Host. The system is forced to adapt or it might be taken advantage of]
The system chimed as it replied as though reminding Asher he was the cause of everything.
Asher stayed silent for a moment, then replied, ’whatever, I would say thanks from now on,’
[If the system could breath, it would have said ’I wouldn’t hold my breath’ but alas...]
Asher could only muse internally at the system’s cheeky remark. He wouldn’t deny it, he loved their constant back and forth, which was why he kept doing it. The system’s replies were always funny and top tier to him.
’I’m getting distracted, I’m on a battlefield, I need to get the answer I need fast, in case some sneak attack’s us or something’ he thought to himself.
After all, just because he was done with ’Z’ doesn’t mean the battle was over, personally Asher felt the Sinvairas were probably somewhere lying in wait.
Although Asher didn’t know it, his thoughts were true, the Sinvairas were simply lying in wait a few dozens million kilometer away from the general battlefield. They had to stay so faraway, after all, staying too close would make the Thresholds and Wargraves sniff out their existence and their plans, making both sides halt their attacks, they might even join hands and wiped them out.
Meaning, once the Wargraves were done with the Thresholds and Alphabets, and they continue their journey, and in a couple hours, they would face another grand assault from the the Sinvairas.
One could only ask if the Wargraves could take on the Sinvairas just barely over two hours of finishing their battles with the Thresholds and Alphabets. And that with the Black Disaster, Azazel Haellight, leaving after this battle.
Could the man known as the One Above All truly take on the few Sinvairas who were as strong as him if not more, one of them being Vornis, Sinvaira of Laziness amongst others. Or would he finally fall to like Father, fall to the same enemy.
Could the saying, ’Like Father like Son’ fit into this narrative.
But alas, only time can tell... and that was in a few hours.
