Chapter 1014: It Would Be A Shame

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

’Okay, system, back to business, I’m on a battlefield, not my room at the Wargrave Estate,’ Asher spoke to the system once more.

[Affirmative, Host]

The system chimed as it too got serious.

[Personally, the Host should be able to figure this out for himself, but the system would spell it out for the Host.]

’Thank you for your generosity,’ Asher replied with a flat tone.

[The reason the Host had fallen into the state of death was because his body couldn’t handle the level of power he had touched during his final attack against the man known as ’Z’]

The system chimed.

[The attack the Host personally unleashed was a combination of elements from Space, Gravity, Lightning, StellarFlame, and Light. At that final moment, the Host fell into what one refers to as Enlightenment or a Trance and was able to combine these five elements to their base and almost purest level, and was able to unleash an attack that scarred Crymora]

Asher floated stunned as he heard the system’s words, his mind running through various thoughts. Of course, as the system had said, he might have been able to figure this out himself. He remembered the last moment, that moment he was about to unleash 100% of his Astra energy from Virelass’ Astra Veil, but he slowed as he performed a second attack.

[But, what the Host doesn’t know is that what he had done is called Elemental Combination, and such a scale of power can only be achieved after one gains perfect elemental mastery across the elements they are combining. And the Host has achieved none of that on any of his affinities, he isn’t even close to it, might the system add]

The system chimed as it stated, then paused as though giving Asher a few seconds to follow and have his own thoughts and imagination or whatever that went on in its Host’s head and greedy mind.

[Hence, the reason the Host was about to die. The Host may think of it as a form of backlash for touching a power he hasn’t mastered, but in real terms, it’s just that the Host’s body was simply too weak to survive after combining five elements and unleashing it in one big blast. The Host only managed to survive because of Absolute Physique and his sheer vitality]

Asher stayed silent for a moment before he sighed internally.

’Absolute Physique to the rescue yet again,’ he thought to himself. He knew that although the system only listed five functions of the Absolute Physique, the Absolute Physique still did so many things in the background. Like now, he needed few hours of rest, unlike everyone else. At his current state, two hours of rest was enough for him to be back at his peak.

And things like his outrageously fast metabolism. He had always wondered if many other hidden or unseen functions could become more pronounced if the Fruit Of Dawn had actually evolved his Physique instead.

’And it seems my vitality is also saving my ass,’ he smiled internally.

The system seemed to be done allocating a few seconds to its greedy Host to think as it continued speaking.

[The Host has to note that without Star Energy and the Star Core Fragment within the Host’s heart, he would never have been able to perform such a feat. If someone else tries Elemental Combination, they would simply explode and die, as part of the reason why the Host is still alive is because the Star Core Fragment handled most of the burden. If the Host tries to replicate this attack through Astra energy without achieving perfect elemental control, then this dutiful system can only bid the greedy Host a good-bye, then retire for good]

Asher stayed silent for a moment as he nodded internally, as the system’s explanation made perfect sense. He remembered each element flowing toward his heart first, but it seemed they were truly being converged into the Star Core Fragment.

He couldn’t help but sigh, even the small burden that the Star Core had channeled back to him had nearly killed him, if he dared replicate it through Astra energy, he would certainly die. Besides, he didn’t even remember what he had done to even achieve the said Elemental Combination, which was a first for him given his perfect memory.

It seemed there was a first time for everything.

All he remembered was the feeling of the elements flowing to the Star Core Fragment, then him unleashing it. As for the balanced chemical ratio and whatnot, he knew nothing.

’Enlightenment, huh? No wonder people love fighting, especially Crownstar Life Rankers’ Asher mused to himself, even if people didn’t undergo enlightenment or whatever, they still gained immense ideas and numerous gains after each battle.

But... how could one have such knowledge of such power and just leave it? This was a power that eclipsed Star Form, the Star Stanza, and the 100% Virelass attack; it stood above all these. How could he taste such a good thing and just ignore it? After all, his current battlefield was the perfect example of the scale of destruction he could cause with it. He knew there was no way he could destroy five thousand kilometers on his own; it was simply impossible.

Besides, what happened when he became a Crownstar Life Ranker with the power of Elemental Combination? How powerful would he be by then? Wouldn’t Crownstar Life Rankers be a joke to him?

’Although it was a Trance or whatever... but what if I try to replicate the attack through Star Energy and the Star Core Fragment since Astra energy is a no-go?’ Asher asked aloud, not at the system, not at himself.

The system chimed the moment he had the thought.

[The only way for the Host to use such an attack again is either through Trance or Enlightenment that can’t be forced or through Elemental Combination. As for the Host trying to replicate it himself through Star Energy and the Star Core Fragment, the system advises the Host that it will also result in death. But in the end, the Host is his own person; if the Host has suicidal tendencies, the system can only watch from the sidelines, as the system has offered all the knowledge and advice it can give]

And indeed, the system would do nothing if Asher went ahead with this death sentence. It had no emotions; it was mechanical, efficient, and only did its job. It had advised Asher to the best of its capacity and knowledge. If Asher treaded such dangerous territory, then it could only watch Asher be erased out of existence by a force he and the people of Crymora couldn’t understand.

There was no hidden administrative protocol or whatever that activated whenever Asher was about to die. It had no such functions. If Virelass didn’t possess the End-class Monster blood to heal Asher, it could only watch Asher crumble to dust.

The function it had told Asher was all that existed. Nothing more, nothing less.

But, although it had no emotions, it didn’t mean it didn’t enjoy Asher’s company and his monthly greedy requests.

[It would be a shame... Host.]

The system stated in finality and went silent until Asher asked another question.
