Chapter 1265: Azaron’s Speech

This chapter is updated by JustRead.pl

Cindralis didn’t know what to say, as Azaron’s words were indeed true. Even if everything that had happened was the result of someone’s manipulation, it didn’t change the fact that Emperor Horace was the one who had ordered his men to carry out the attack.

He should have been prepared for the consequences. He should have anticipated that a man like Azaron would make a personal move against him, as The One Above All wasn’t someone who would sit back and watch once he had been provoked.

Besides, Azaron had lost millions of Soldiers, as he had said. The carnage was justified.

She didn’t judge him because she knew she would do the same. If an Empire made a move against her Separate Dimension and damaged it, then they could believe that she would get her lick back, and she would hold nothing back.

"I guess your ruthless reputation is going to soar yet again, Azaron."

Cindralis stated as she shook her head.

"I’m a simple man, Cindralis. If people leave me alone, I leave them alone. It’s as simple as that."

Azaron replied, as he knew the type of man he was.

Cindralis said nothing, both of them floating in silence for a moment. The silence was eventually broken when Cindralis spoke.

"To think millions of Velkarian Soldiers are still fighting for their dead Empress, not knowing their Emperor is dead and half of their Empire has been wiped out."

She stated as she felt pity for their futile efforts. After all, they had launched an attack but had suffered even greater damage in return.

No matter how things turned out, the Zarethorne Empire had won, and all of them would be captured by Zolthemire as slaves. And due to the number of Soldiers the Zarethorne Empire had lost, the Slave Exchange Pact wouldn’t hold this time, as Zolthemire would kill them all.

They couldn’t launch this attack and then return to their Empires with smiles on their faces because of some stupid pact.

"Cindralis... aren’t you forgetting something?"

Azaron asked, his eyes fixed on Morgana, who had now lost her leg, although she had finished regenerating her missing arm after throwing her Healing Cloud.

Cindralis arched an eyebrow at Azaron’s words, wondering what she was forgetting.

Azaron simply decided to speak instead of continuing to play around.

"Aren’t there some or many students on your so-called missions? I’m sure some missions are connected to certain Frontiers. And even if they aren’t, I wonder if they’re in trouble wherever they are."

At Azaron’s words, Cindralis paused for a moment, her eyes widening as she realized she hadn’t thought of that. Without uttering a single word of thanks, she vanished from where she stood, her figure tearing through space in another direction.

Azaron simply shook his head as a light smile appeared on his face. He turned and shot in the direction where Morthern and Zarek were.

Morthern and Zarek had gathered every single Soldier across all the Frontiers under Azaron at a single location while simultaneously wiping out all the enemy Soldiers.

To Morthern, it didn’t matter whether they were Crownstar Life Rankers or Kindlestar Life Rankers; a couple of Fictional Reality attacks were enough to obliterate them all.

The moment Azaron appeared, the Soldiers who had been saved immediately saluted, placing their hands against their chests as they shouted.

"We greet the Commander!!!"

Their voices were loud and respectful. Although they were injured, Morthern had healed them all a long time ago and was simply waiting for Azaron to return, while Zarek took account of everything, ranging from the number of Soldiers lost down to the last details.

Azaron didn’t speak. He simply stood silently for a moment, gazing at his Soldiers, who were now perfectly fine. He couldn’t help but perform a mental calculation, eventually coming to the conclusion that he had lost just over eighty percent of his Soldiers.

Even the Miscellaneous Group had been wiped out across all the Frontiers. His heart couldn’t help but tighten at the staggering number of losses he had suffered.

Men who would dive into flames at his command. Men who would stare into the Abyss. Soldiers who would rush into battle despite knowing the odds were against them, simply because he had ordered them to.

Men who had given him their loyalty, yet had died a dog’s death.

He could see it in the eyes of the remaining Soldiers: the will to fight for their fallen comrades, the will to die alongside them, and the will to obtain their answers in nothing but blood and nothing else. They wanted to pick up their weapons and rush forward, but Morthern was obviously holding them there.

Although he wasn’t a man who gave motivational speeches, Azaron knew he had to say something at that moment. It was his responsibility as a Commander, and it was his duty as the man for whom his Soldiers risked everything.

Standing with a calm expression, he began to speak to his Soldiers.

"Today, we’ve suffered a calamity, an apocalypse the likes of which has never occurred under my rule before. And we lost a huge number of our brothers and sisters because of it. Men who have given their lives for the Empire. Women who risk their lives for every single mission. Young Soldiers who wake up every day with the thought of growing stronger and reaching the Crownstar Life Rank."

His tone was brisk, holding a sliver of pain that he tried to hide but couldn’t.

"And I blame myself for this."

Azaron continued speaking.

"I spend most of my time at the Wargrave Estate, handling affairs from there and rarely stepping into any of the Frontiers under my command. And because of this gross negligence, you have all suffered huge losses."

He stated, blaming himself rather than the Emperor or the Velkarin Empire. If he had been here last week, a month ago, or at any other time before the attack, he might have discovered the scheme.

"While you are all filled with anger and a hunger for blood, unfortunately, I won’t be allowing my remaining men to march into their deaths. From this moment onwards, you are all on paid leave. Great Elder Morthern will teleport you to your various homes, and your pay during this leave will be higher than your usual salary."

At Azaron’s words, the Soldiers immediately frowned in disagreement.

"We refuse!!!"

"Our brothers and sisters died, and we’re supposed to go home on paid leave?"

"Are we just going to stand by and watch? How are the fallen supposed to rest in peace knowing the people responsible for their deaths are out there causing more damage?"

They all voiced their disagreement and expressed their thoughts, as even if Azaron was an unquestionable existence, it didn’t mean they wouldn’t speak up after the deaths of their comrades.

Azaron raised a hand, the motion causing all of them to fall silent.

"While I will be sending you all on paid leave, I don’t intend to let this matter go unanswered. The Velkarin Empire shall receive what they deserve in full, and from me personally. So trust this Commander of yours, and in a day or two, the news will reach you all. Trust me, as you have all done up to this point."

Azaron stated with a calm expression. Although he had already erased half of the Velkarin Empire, he knew that Zolthemire would announce it in a day or two, once the information reached him.

It was best if the Soldiers to find out then.
